One thing I don't get is,
He is no longer a Labor MP, he is an independent, so why isn't a bi election called? The voters in his electorate voted for him  because he was affiliated with the ALP.
Now he is a Indo shouldn't there be a bi election?
Can someone explain this please, I don't understand.  ???

I think that this matter should be dealt with in two ways.  FIRST.  If it is behaviour contrary to what is required by a minister then as a discipline situation it is & should be dealt with like a civil litigation & judged on the balance of probabilities....that is "it may have happened,it could have happened" and the buden of proof is basically a lot less than a criminal matter were the accused is innocent until proven guilty & any eliment of doubt goes in favour of the defendant.  What THOMPSON is doing is throwing doubt on the accusations by declaring "Yes.   I do not deny it was my phone & my credit card but it wasn;t me"   What his accusors need to do is produce photographic evidence (CCTV footage) or one of these "Ladies" to give a signed sworn statement then he is sunk but I would suggest this hasn't occured there is no HARD evidence hence his defence....there will be no sustance to his demise....there is already been a major delay by FW Aust.  (gee I wonder who instigated the go slow?!!!)  Thompson may gracefully sail off into the sunset & when Wayne & Jules have a good majority to form Govt he will be of no further use just like Pete the peep!!!

Very true Carl,
I'm hoping that we are all bigger enough to respect others opinions, have our say and know when to back away, just like as if we were standing face to face and not make it personal.
Because after all, we all back different horses.

If he does get charged with fraud then there is proceeds of crime action to recover the money.  They will (should) restrain his assets once he is charged so a smart fellow would get rid of everything now.

He doesn't have any assets, the labor party gave him loans to stave off bankruptcy last year or before.
Here for a good time, not a long time!

I come to this site for My Swag discussion, I really don't care for views on politics or politicians when I'm thinking about getting away from it all.

When I want to read political views and wallow in such tripe I go here http://www.politicalforum.com/australia/

I think politics and religion should be banned subjects here(sex I'm OK with) :D

Has there been any details on whether the hookers are male or female? This could open up a whole different slant on things.
On a slightly different matter, if Penny Wong and Bob Brown got married, would that be a gay marriage?

Something to think about....

If I was to be accused of miss-using $500k of my employer's funds, I would be out on my Ar$e and if found innocent have to fight it in unfair dismissal, yet a pollie keeps his job on full pay.

If I were to steal $500k from a bank, I would be elligable for the presumtion of innocence, however, my liberty would almost certainly be taken away until such time as I was found innocent, again a pollie keeps his liberties and pay packet.

Is this one rule for some and another for others????  Almost to the point that some of the pollies should no longer get the respect of the title "the Honorable".

Agree, just like when Carl Scully(NSW Minister for Police and then the health minister) ripped into the nurses for whistle blowing and next thing you know he is to be known as the Honorable Carl Scully.
Bloody disgraceful.

Did anyone hear this on Sydney radio today?   http://www.2gb.com/index.php?option=com_homepage&id=63&Itemid=25   Click on " Presenters and Shows" then " Weekday Presenters" then "Ben Fordham" then "Craig Thompson's version of events."  Things may be finally coming to a head.
