+ I opted to pick up from the store so subtract postage of around $19.00. Can't remember the exact figure it is in the car.

Damn. I just bought a set with the Rays Outdoors 26.5% sale. I did pay $193.00 though.

I spoke to Rays today said that there is no sale, which store was this?

Don't forget to use the AUTOCLUB coupon code for a further 10% off. I also got them during the sale for $193 (store pickup)

Shovel, cutup milk crate and cable ties.

Usually need to replace the cable ties after each use.

I've got my eye on a plastic pallet at work....just looks like a plastic grate but will cost $0 to try it out.  We have a winch if the tightar$e option fails to meet expectations. ;D

I have a few cut up bread crates waiting to be joined by rope as I figured cable ties would break easily.

I'm not suggesting anything by a long shot...
But my observation is that our local green coloured symboled, large over-priced, monopoly supermarket often has similar crates they use in the fruit & veg section stacked outside - AND they fold up ;)
Don't know how they'd go with the weight of a vehile driving over them though.

I brought a set for Neil for Christmas. We used them to help some Swiss tourist out of a hole when we were on holiday in Kalbarri recently, they had pulled over to take pics and got stuck in the soft sand on the edge of the road. So easy to use :) Great for peace of mind when out and about.

No prizes for guessing what you voted for in the poll then?
Why do people ask "What the hell were you thinking?"
Obviously I was thinking I was going to get away with it and not have to explain it....

As luck would have it, the very first trip where I took the maxtrax they were used.  I wasn't even towing the camper but managed to get stuck on a difficult beach exit (heading over the dune towards the beach).  Max-trax didn't get me out immediately but after rocking the car a bit and sticking them further under the problem rear wheel they helped me drive out.  Useful but I probably could've used some branches or something.
So, 10 years driving on the beaches around SEQ without an issue and first trip that I take the maxtrax I need to use them!  :-)
