Light Truck Tyres, your choice please.

Looking for some LT tyres for the new fourby when it happens. I have never used them and would like to know your preference. Thanks again.

Bridgestone 694/697 but you can't get them in Prado size
Mickey T ATZ 4 rib is about all you can get in Prado size

Don't understand this comment. I have had this size BFG's on my Prado 120 for 4 yrs and 86,000 kms. Rang around for quotes a couple of weeks ago for replacements - no problems with stock, quotes $345 per tyre.

I have Procomps on my Prado but getting a troopy and I have been told the oem tyres are crappy. So hence the search for new LT tyres.

I have been running Brigdestone 694's for over the last 5 years. 3 years now we have had the LT version, have found them very good.

Given I have the advantage of knowing what rims you are getting, I reckon (and I am biased because I use them) Michelin XZY3's on the split rims.  Many of the other tyres being mentioned are good, although Mickey Thompson's are pricey, Dick Cepek's have quite a narrow gapped tread, and do not push mud out, BFG Mud Terrains are great for sand and mud, but should be used on such surfaces, not all that much on bitumen.
Perhaps a better guide from knowing what you predominantly going to use the tyres for, what size rims you will be using, and if you plan to have uniform tyres, ie, the same size on your C/T when you get it.

Mainly town driving but a trip or two a year away somwwhere. I am looking at the Michelin Tjupurula but as I explained earlier, the tyre guy just looked at me as if I was from space. XZY3 I dont know, was his reply. I will look around during the week for them.

I have spoken with the guy that does my tyres when I change them, in Kununurra, and he told me that very few XZY3's aresold in cities.  They are not cheap, and sold mostly in rural areas, as that is where they are predominantly used.  I guess it is us clowns in the bush who are a bit more fussy, and prepared to pay a bit more, as we can't readily go and get tyres, so we need something that will do the job well, and rarely get punctured.
I will find the web site for them and message you when I do.

My vehicle is definitely not a truck, it is a 4x4, and I find the XZY3 Light truck tyres are the ones that last me and are hardy enough for the area that I live in.  Incidentally, 750/16's are a fairly common 4wd tyre size. 
Yes they are light truck tyre, agreed, but then most 4wd travelling do not have the standard light load on, they need a good quality tyre.
Many 4x4 tyre have the initials LT on them, I think that means light truck, please correct me if I am wrong.

That's correct LT does stand for light truck, the truck tyres Im referring to are the 20/22.5" sizes I was too lazy too list the individual sizes. The cruiser comes (ute?) under light truck/commercial vehicle classification

Have a look at the Kumho KL78 ATs in LT construction, quiet, good grip on and offroad and they are at a resonable price, we have them on both our cars.
