Patrol4x4.com off the air due to virus attack
« on: February 29, 2012, 03:59:35 PM »
Hi Patrol types

Don't know if it's been mentioned here yet but P4x4.com is a high risk site at the moment due to the 'Smart Protection 2012' trojan getting into the server - complicated somewhat by the fact that the server is unavailable to the site caretaker. Basically we have to wait until the auto maintenance runs on the server, and hope that it fixes it...

So steer clear for now, when/if it comes back I'll update this topic.

And make sure your AV is up to date! I can recommend Malwarebytes as an excellent first line of defence.

Using Chrome when accessing this site (MySwag) it reported this site is hosting content from Patrol4x4.com and that I should not proceed....  The detail sheet it shows you is interesting reporting the problems that google have identified on Patrol4x4.

I actually used to be a member there but have not been able to access it for ages and I get no response to emails for assistance, do you know someone that can help me out Squalo?

Looks like something's up........

I'm now getting messages that Myswag.org contains content from Patrol4X4.
Only seem to be getting it from the "Toughest Track You've Ever Been On" thread.

Just started getting them this evening.......

Fivid, I can help sort your membership to P4x4 - assuming we still have a P4x4 in the future.

Does the 'toughest track' contain a link to P4x4? If so that's probably why it is giving warning messages. PM whoever wrote that post and ask them to edit the link out.

nisspat.com.au certainly is more of a "Friendly" site than p4x4.com (did you know patrol4x4.com is an anagram of "why the F*#k didn't you use the search"), but I think it's a lot lighter on in terms of technical info.

I was getting virus alerts from that site since the weekend so had to stop using to get info on how to best manage my much maligned ZD30.

Quarantined and removed a malware virus which had downloaded itself.

All the issues in mine were the result of an accident and the repair (overheating caused by mixed coolants). It gave me close to 100k before that trouble free, It's now got 265k.

It was purely a stir, I actually really like the engine and economy, But in the end it did my head in.

Dave,

I've downloaded Chrome but it's not showing any issue when accessing myswag.

I'm using Chrome, and I get a big red warning when I try to look at the "Toughest track you've been on" thread.
It warns that Myswag contains a link to Patrol4x4. It's the same message Fivid reported.
I only get the warning when I try to look at the 3rd page of the thread. I can access the first 2 pages OK.
This only started last night.

If we get P4x4 back up and running, come back for another look - there's a bit more control over the louder/unruly elements than in the past these days, I've been on board for two years and it's definitely changed for the better. With more changes to come.

But I will go for a wander through nissanpatrol.com.au, the site looks good.

Thanks Brett for cleaning the link out of the other topic.

Dave,

I've downloaded Chrome but it's not showing any issue when accessing myswag.

It did it once when I first tried to access the site from my bookmark and I told it to ignore, it then did it when I went to look at the Toughest Track thread, ignored that message and since then I have had no dramas

Northy, what's going on with your ZD30?? (in 5 words or less ;D)
LJ

Mostly trying to prevent problems on long trips while towing after buying it in November and the ZD30 has some issues which I want to avoid - and I have been learning fast.  Was also getting a bit hot (without towing) recently, hopefully have fixed this with the viscous coupling, flush and thermostat....
