Yeah mate, I wasn't aiming the post at you. I'm sure that it was a paralysis tick. I was having a go at the ones who are saying it is suspicious or saying that Roothy didn't show enough care (Barra). When someone has just lost someone close, human or pet, the last thing they need is people criticizing them.

I dont care who's dog it was, but being a responsible dog owner who takes a dog into tick areas, you must check the over a couple of times a day. A bit late now to lament over a lack of care.
Barra.

My black Lab 'Jessie' had to be put down due to what we suspected was a tic :(

We spent over a grand in and out of 2 different vets over several weeks trying work out what was causing her to go limp. The first vet diagnosed her with pancreatitis, the second vet was certain it was a tic.

It was heart breaking having to say good bye to her at such a young age.

You might call it bad luck. I don't. As a farmer I'm proberly more equiped than most on how to look after animals.

Inded it has gone that way GU Rich
Just got our latest 4WD Action in the post, a really good trip in the Ammamor/kenilworth forest. might have been the last vid with Jack in it.
Too bad you can't get Key Man Insurance for someone like Jack, we all loved his antics, behaviour and (almost) looks just like ours if not for a slight difference in colour from the boy dog

being a farmer doesnt qualify someone as being equiped. Ive met a lot of farmers that you wouldnt leave in charge of a paper run let alone animals, bsides my comment wasnt about your knowledge of animal husbandry , like mentioned earlier no one knows the exact reason or circumstances behind what happened so i think its unfair to judge roothy on what he may may not have done

Hmmmmmmmm........

This topic has seemed to have gone pear shaped....

It certainly has. Jack has passed, I don't understand why people Need to have a dig at his owner regardless of who he is. If my dog passed away would that make me fair game?

Yes, sad for Roothie, Sad for Jack indeed. Let's see what he has to say on this next DVDs.

Slightly off topic here, what happens to humans, can we get tick paralysis, do  other animals other than dogs get this too?

Chris.

Bruce, really?

Roothy the character versus John Rooth are two very separate things.

Sorry to hear hope him and his family are ok terrible to lose a loved pet

It sells mags, many people respond to Roothy like they do to his Westy character in the bike mag. I don't get it either but I do get its a character

To answer the question, yes ticks can do you in, don't know about killing a human but certainly knock your immune system about later in life eg Chronic fatigue and such
