Well ours won the price range within our price range  ??? and  reckon they are a great camper. Not sure why there weren't more to test though. Oh we have a Johnnos and they are great value IMO and tough as boots.

Unfortunately, the team at CTA decided to test this range of camper trailers and indicate the minimum that should be spent is $15k.

What a load of bunkum.  I cannot in any way see that they are suggesting that you have to spend a minimum of $15K on  a trailer.  They were testing off road trailers and they had to start somewhere.  I think most people will use the information found in this magazine and from many other sources to help them with their research in to what they actually want/need.  I think that we are all a whole lot smarter than thinking we only have to look at a magazine and bang...decision made.

This thread has become far too serious.  It's meant to be a pleasant place to visit and it is seriously not becomeing that of late.

I think some people are taking the CTOTY article(s) a little too seriously. It's a nice read, but it just a few peoples opinions.....

im with the o/p, setting the budget class at $15-25,000 is stupid. budget class is normally the cheapest price range. as for any trailer under $15,000 not being up to the task or comftable enough for long range touring and off road work is crap, i would take my $6000 camper on any road with confidence that it can handle it. long range comfort factor for me $6000 is the same as $60,000 its just the ease that changes.

if i dont need 4wd, i ain't going!!!

Not stupid, just what they wanted to do, to ensure they were testing the cream of the crop.

People need to get over the fact their CT wasn't included and that what they term budget or suitable is different to what the testers do.

They have to start somewhere and they started at the $15k mark. If they were to start at the $5000 mark, maybe they would be there for months testing these things as there are alot more of them around the $5-$15K (of course that would be if any of them entered their campers).

I'm not the editor of the mag so I won't question how or why they do, what they do or when they do it. These are their opinions and they are entitled to them just like we are entitled to ours. It is their job to test campers and give an unbiased (maybe sometimes they are biased but every magazine will have that happen at sometime) opinion based on what they see and what campers they are provided from the manufacturers. I did notice a number of "high profile" manufacturers that did not put in any campers. The way I see it is, it is no use claiming your the best when you don't put yourself up against the competition.

There is a myriad of places to get info on campers out there today and this mag is just another one of them and if you were to rely on just one opinion then you are pretty foolish and like Sixtys Guy said "I think some people are taking the CTOTY article(s) a little too seriously. It's a nice read, but it just a few peoples opinions....."

I've been sceptical of magazine articles since 1984 when Overlander magazine awarded the 4WD OF THE YEAR to the Mitsubishi L300 van, over the Landcruiser HJ60.  :'(  What were they thinking!?  ;D
