I've used Icom, Uniden and GME and all are good and will last if treated with a modicum of care. Ther RFS uses VHF dont they?? It is not conmparable to UHF 477mhz CB. If we wanted best antenna performance, we'd all be drilling holes in the middle of our roofes and stripping headlinings out to put our aerialsin the middle of the roof.
My concern with the Oricom would be how robust it is going to be? If you are going to really rough terrain id be thinking twice, in case it lets you down.
I have Icom, Tait, in the Lux and have had Kenwood, Yaesu, Phiilps and dare I say it, even a Motorola for as while!. My advice would be buy the best you can afford. The $199 with elevated feed aerial is cheap!!. It might last 10 years or 10 minutes. Here's hoping for the former!!
