Been a while ... the 'Evakool ' fridge that i ended up buying is a Chinese import fridge ... couldn't get it to work.
Contacted Evakool , took it to their warranty guy up here ( he had a few more of them sitting there ready for evaluation ...lol ) , turns out some electrical bit was buggered .I contacted evakool and they had a replacement fridge to me within 4 days ... you could not ask for better service then that .
I ended up getting a 110 litre , white , Evakool fridge , they still make them , the other ones , they import in , trying to chase the bottom end market I suppose .

The new fridge works a treat .

Cheers

Well I've been told its not the size of the fridge but the way you use it that counts!

only used it twice...first time worked great...second time it was dead as a door nail ....found out after i got home that the plug going into the fridge can be put in upside down and it will not work....turned it around and worked fine....Fraser in July is the next hit out..although it does make a good eski if you put the plug in the wrong way

The fridge I want to know about is the charcoal fridge brought in from China by Evakool and is branded 'Travelmate'....?   This fridge has an Italian compressor called a Domus which is a copy of the Danfoss and only 2 years warranty on cabinet and compressor.

They are currently around the $600 mark (at Brisbane caravan & camping show) for a 60 litre fridge/freezer with insulated cover which puts them at the bottom end of the market, but with better warranty and hopefully reliable after sales service from a major Aussie brand.

They seem to have a high power usage though - at 32 degrees ambient with the fridge running at +2 to -2 they have an average power draw of 1.5 amps per hour over a 24 hour period which is 36 amps a day...?    I have been told the average for a Waceo/Engel or white fibreglass Everkool is under the 24 amps per day which makes these fridges 33% more efficient.

This is a big thing when running off a limited power supply?

What is everyones thoughts or experience with these fridges?

Cheers

I have the Evakool Travelmate and as mentioned above for the money I am very happy with our limited use.
Fraser Island next month will be the big test as that is a week with 12v and soon to be purchased solar but from my research prior to buying mine I thought they were good value for money....more so as we dont get away a lot and not for long periods.
I did have a borrowed waeco before this (budget model) and prefer the Evakool.

You get what you pay for...

I'd buy one as a backup not as a primary.
