Well for those that are interested.........we went the entire snake season without a single snake. All our neighbours had snake encounters this season. I am slowly turning from skeptic to believer. Friends of ours had a real snake issue this year and were averaging a snake a week around the house until they also installed a couple of these repellers. From the installation until now not a single snake.

Still ever cautious but as far as I am concerned these things may have some merit.

Usual disclaimer.....no financial interest yadda yadda yadda, just sharing our experience.

We have to start thinking about what sort of a world we are going to leave for Keith Richards after we are all gone.

Someone call MythBusters please.

I wouldn't spend my money on them, but I'd like to see some scientific review before saying they're snake oil (see what I did there  ;D).

Snakes can feel rodents, if you have rats and mice, snakes for you

Dangerous snakes also love long grass, hawks and kookurburras get them other wise

So what I have found, people who don't like snakes also seem to be more paranoid about them, so they mow, and pickup old timber, sheets of iron, junk etc etc. then they get fewer rodents so they get fewer snakes

Those "snake repellents" work because those people who buy them do all the right things first, then buy one, then congratulate the snake repellent rather than good housekeeping

I'm with bull frog, two peices of thick walled pipe, sealed with a hinged metal block and some spring loaded  pins to fire the 12 gauge bird shot  shells works fine. Or if you prefer the less home brew version, a shot gun for the timid, a .22  for not so timid.

Personally, walking around making a lot fo noise helps a lot, rarely see the buggers. I dont like Browns, blacks are scary but OK, Dugites are some where in between.
If life is stranger than you think, then it means you need to let your imagination off the leash more.

Hey The Dugites were one of my fav bands of the (early) 80's. IIRC one of their songs was the first one played on 2JJJ when it moved from 2JJ. Mainly because the song was banned from commercial radio. Bit of random OT there sorry.
I thought they were a WA snake
