EBay has more good point's  than bad ones,

when it was new or its first years I would agree... now I would not agree. theres so much dodgey Shit on there - once a week or more someone posts up "CHECK THIS BARGAIN JAYCO HAWK FOR $2.00!! IS IT LEGIT? with the same photos taken off of Dumbtreee...  and thats only the things people on here look at.

Then theres trying to find stuff that isnt Shit from china/hk/tawian etc.. impossible.

Sad but true

Finally found this amongst the pages of fine print and other "helpful" (more like confusing) information on ebay and PayPal websites:

IMPORTANT: If you are eligible under PayPal's Buyer Complaint Policy, PayPal may try to recover your payment from the seller, but recovery of your payment whether in whole or in part is not guaranteed. Your potential recovery is limited only to the amounts that PayPal is able to recover from the seller.

Thanks for that, i have had three or four disputes with ebay sellers and have always had my money refunded, i guess they just took it from their accounts. Sorry to hear you didn't get yours!!

Happy camping and sorry for offloading!! put it down to new camper wait fever!!

scammers/smart sellers remove the money the moment they can for this reason.
its your word V theirs... if the money is there, Paypal will take it. IM not even sure how it would go if you had a CC registered with them

Contact ur bank and tell them. They will do a charge back and paypal will have to pay it. Happened to me over a $800 transaction.  Paypal told me not much they could do but once the bank was notified i had my funds back in just under a week.  Was lucky!

Thanks for all the replies and help everyone.

If nothing else I feel better after talking typing about it.

Not really a case of feeling stupid (although the wife would disagree), as I figure for the few dollars I pose to lose its no big deal.

I bought a maco mule the other day as the camper trolley didn't work out, but I wouldn't buy it over ebay -$600 is a bit much to risk losing.
I went direct on line to caravans plus. Great service and have bought heaps from them.
Years ago I bought some of those led replacement globes for the glamper and although no problems with ebay, the lights themselves were just cr@p. It then bought some others from another seller and they have been great. Performed faultlessly for years.
Luck of the auction I reckon. And for the price, I'll take the risk.

Thanks again,
Brian

I was lucky on that occasion with the PSW generator and acted quickly enough to cancel the transaction through PayPal themselves.  Apparently there normally is a couple of hours between when you pay for an item, and when it is processed in PayPal.   You can only do this if the transaction is  showing as "pending" in your PayPal account .

I too from time to time have had disputes with sellers in ebay and had them resolved, or had money refunded through PayPal.  Again, not an issue if it is a legitimate seller with a legitimate account, but if it's a low life scammer you're dealing with  (and from the sounds of the description from the original poster it's a scammer), the chances of getting your money back is slim, from my experience and understanding of PayPals buyer protection policy.

In all honesty when you read the pages of fine print with PayPals terms and conditions regarding their protection policy, it's no wonder there is confusion.  Either way, there's no hard feelings my end.  :D

considering the state of the european market your win is going to cost how much with their euro about to go bung?  you won 20 million euro, equivalent to a coffee in most other countries;)

My first ever purchase on Ebay was a pair of Sunnies, Oakleys, seller swore black and blue they were genuine but even cash converters could tell they were fakes! It was quite a rigmarole to get my money back, I had to get proof that they were fakes, some sort of documentation and I think I had to post the lot to paypal in the US or wherever it was at the time. In the end I only got refunded 75% of what I paid, which is better than nothing.
Needless to say I've since made a few purchases and sold a lot more stuff via ebay. Albeit I'm a lot wiser as to what I purchase.

The funny thing is often when I've looked at things on ebay as a buyer looking to buy something, most of the time I can actually find the item cheaper in a real store (be it bricks and mortar or online). To give you an example you can get vacuum bags directly from Miele, a packet for $20 with free shipping. On ebay you pay $20 plus shipping for the same thing!

Anyhow what I hate these days is that you pretty much have to use Paypal to trade on ebay. And if you don't you'd be surprised how many people will send you a paypal payment to your email with a non existent paypal account when you have clearly stipulated that you don't have a paypal account and payment is only direct deposit or whatever!!!

I'm also all too weary of scams where people claim never to have received the item as well.
