CTA columns/ regulars
« on: November 07, 2011, 09:25:14 AM »
Hey guys, I'm hoping to get some feedback on the columns and regular features we run in Camper Trailer Australia. What's your favourite? What just annoys you? It's a part of the mag that doesn't usually elicit much feedback, but there they are, every month. Let me know what's working for you. We have:

Macca: Camp Cooking
Christina: This Gypsy Life
Dean: Down the Rugged Track
Rob: Campertrailers.org
Marco: Bush repairs
Alan/ Denis (Piranha): Flying sparks
Carlisle: Sandy's neverending repairs
David: Readers Rigs
Bright Ideas

Thanks! - Carlisle

My favourite sections are: Readers Rigs followed by Bright Ideas and Bush Repairs would be third.

Cooking doesn't do much for me as I don't cook.  One thing I really like is the quality and texture of the paper used and also the excellent photographs - best photography of any magazine out there.

One think I do like is a bit of variety in the camper reviews - you did one once on a Kedron Caravan and I thought it was excellent - just something a bit different.  Maybe more could be done on the crossovers as there are heaps of them out there now eg: Quantum, Gunyah, Vista RV (although a review on that has been done), Exodus 14, XLT Topender etc.

My favourite thing about your magazine is that you dont have GIC on every second page with superimposed logos everywhere they can plaster them unlike some other publication!!!

Keep up the great work - my favourite magazine by far!!

I like the Bright Ideas followed by the Camp Cooking then Down the Rugged Track, Bush Repairs and Readers Rigs.  When I used to get Caravan World I used to like the puzzle page during quiet moments, have you thought of doing something similar.

I always head straight to the Bright Ideas..followed by readers rigs and any of the bush repairs/ technical articles. I dont care much for the cooking side of things.

Camp Cooking - I find some of these recipies a bit "need to go to a deli" sometimes.  Not all of us carry around some of those specialty items in our pantries. especially if it's going to be a one off use.
Down the Rugged Track - Interesting to see places that aren't the "Big Events" (like CSR / OTL / Tanami etc)
Campertrailers.org - Love Rob's articles.  Guess I'm biased though ... first time I met him, he hugged me and slapped a kiss on my cheek ...  ;D
Bush repairs - Always good to know.
Readers Rigs - Not another electrics, brakes and kitchen upgrade ... would be nice to find something that people don't usually do.
Bright Ideas - Love these tips and hints to help improve ones camping experience.  Brilliant.

But my favourite piece of the entire mag is reading On The Trail.  You sure have a poetic way with words that inspires the imagination Carlisle.   :cup:

Keep the missus away from mining/ environmental topics  Its a camper trailer mag not a mouthpiece for the misinformed greenies- we cop enough of that in the media without paying for it in a recreational magazine.

Take a look at the member locations on this website and have a look in the mining thread- there is a heap of us outh there.

just my 2c, I didn't buy the mag to read these sorts of topics
