I've recently bought a Crossman Raven air rifle with partial pistol grip stock, very small frame for kids or women with a break action barrel that shoots 600 fps. I am have kids in the process of getting their junior permits , so when they are legal it will be eventually given to them.

Very light almost a carbine ( short barrel), designed for kids / youth market.

They go brand new for around $199.

Cheers

I wish they were stil legal for kids in a way. I have never seen so many minor birds like there are around at the moment. They took the chicks out of a willy wagtail nest here a few weeks ago (never seen 3 wagtails in the one nest before either). I wasn't happy aboout that. If my young bloke had an air rifle I could have taught him to only take out the minor birds. We all had air rifles in our neighborhood when we were kids. we all lived on farms over 50 acres but it was still a neghborhood ;D

I wonder if that is why the population of minor birds has exploded. No more kids shooting them!

I don't think you can compare previous generations to this generation, I do believe they need to be used / owned by licensed law abiding shooters  only with no criminal record linked to robbery, violence etc. and you should only have them if they are kept in a police approved gun safe. There is no such thing as " common sense" anymore and our society does not take responsibility for its own actions ( always somebody elses fault).

Those innocent days are long gone......

Gamo is a great brand of gun, and they have good chunk of the Australian market, I've seen some of there range online for the US market and wished some were relaxed out here e.g. Gamo Whisper

My Gamo is the CFX with the solid barrel and loading under lever, I have it scoped and have fun plinking cans and using it on the drop down metal rat targets you can buy.

Great fun for pest myna birds.

My dad still has my BSA meteor. I was talking to him about it this morning. It was the top of the line when I was 12.

I had a Norica and was as powerfull as a 22 at close range, when new.  8)

Would put a slug through those old aluminium pots at 20mtrs and could put a scope on it. ;D

Look at all that brass swept into the pile on the floor. What a waste. Don't they reload???

Free to anyone who wants to go out there and get it  ;D

I've never fired an air rifle. Wanted one as a kid but my parents wouldn't let me buy one. Would buy one now but wouldn't use it over other options.

this is a hijack i suppose but im looking at buying a new air rifle as the old bsa has no dovetails and i now need a scope due to eye decline so my question is this===to knock off mynahs and rabbits without extreme holdover(i am not inexperianced)what is the better cal out of 177 and 22 and what is a GENUINE range to expect regular humane head shots on bunnies?does anyone have a link to trajectory charts for various slugs/rifles/calibres?thanks ,danny

I used to browse around this site a lot.
Australian Airgun Forums. Pretty good.
You may have to join the group to get into specific forums. Here is their main page
I once purchased this massive .177. I can't for the life of me remember what it was, I wanted it as it was really fast, the only problem it was so fast it broke the sound barrier and ended up being as noisy as my 22 center fire. Not real good for the indian Minah's around home. Was a pain to break the barrel to load as well. Something to consider anyway. I love my .20cal.
Ahhh.
Remembered, the Old Hatsun 125 .177 . Glad the shop bought it back and I didn't loose much money.
