Jayco Swan OB on display at the West Beach Leisurefest
« on: October 23, 2011, 09:27:35 AM »
I am rather amazed with the quality (or rather shear lack of) with the Jayco's, the Swan OB on display had edge stripping peeling off everwhere and silastic over everything WTF ??? ??? surely they could have put some extra effort into the CT that they planned to put on display at a show.

It seems to me that Jayco don't really GAF about quality ??? I have had less issues with our Ezytrail than what I saw in that Swan yesterday within 30 minutes, makes me think if they cant get the simple things right WTF is the rest like ??? ???

What i can say, after owning a Jayco Caravan, is that what Jayco looses in build quality, they make up for in warranty repair.  Nothing was ever questioned on warranty claims and was even repaired out of warranty period, at no cost to us.

If you do look at the Jayco, ring Halls Jayco, in Mildura, www.hallssales.com.au , to get a quote, we found them considerably cheaper than the Adelaide dealer, then we got to try it out on the way home.

Thanks for the tip Cracka

We will most likely look at 2nd hand (up to few yrs old) so we can get awnings, annexe, bed end fly's etc included and ready to go, hopefully the issues have been sorted by the previous owner.

I will look in all states and will probably need to with all the options that we would like, I have 18 months to look, so have plenty of time.

I just bought the 10' campervan from Puma RV.  USA made to Austrailian standards/floor plan.  I am wrapped with all the standard inclusions.  Build quality excellent in my opinion.  Let me know if you buy one as any leads they get via me for a sale gets me some cash.
I am not associated with Puma RV but they were great to deal with as far as I was concerned.  Nothing was too much trouble for Warrick and Anne-Marie.

That's exactly what we did 3 months ago and saved $2,000 on a new Swan...more than paid for the diesel to drive up to Mildura, and had a lovely weekend in Mildura into the bargain!  Very happy to recommend Jayco Mildura.

73bubba

We just got back from a trip to the Flinder's Ranges (like everyone else) but had some brake issues on the way up there with our new Jayco Swan Outback.

Some great caravaners from Adelaide we were camped next to suggested a call into Jayco Mildura as they bring their van from Adelaide to there as they are outstanding, just as crackacoldie says. We called in on their advice and, just off the street they asked if we could leave the van for a few hours. When we came back they said they pulled the brakes down, cleaned them up and adjusted them no problem. And we had no more brake problems.

On the trip we had some other issues so we called into Jayco Mildura on the way back. We identified some issues we had and the manager came out and had a look at everything and and agreed with all of our concerns. He stated there was a recall on the hotplate we were not advised about, even the wrong bag fly was fitted to the rear and several other things and said when we get back to pursue it with Jayco Nowra as we have 12 months for them to get it right and if needed get them to call him.

I love the product but there appears to be no pre-delivery inspection, no quality control and little caring. You would think that the senior managers of Jayco Australia would browse these forums and address several of these issues that are highlighted and demonstrate a commitment to a better quality product.

I wish Jayco Mildura was located in Perth.  Jayco Caravanland do all the sales but no warranty or after sales work. What a great business to own - sell heaps of Jaycos. All care, no responsibility....

Our 2011 Outback Swan has been in for repairs at a warranty agent for 2 weeks now with no timeframe available on when it will be ready - we've been told some parts take up to 5 weeks to arrive from Jayco. Hopefully we'll have it by Christmas...
