X-Trail camper setup

Hi all,

Found this video on youtube of a bloke setting up a X-Trail camper, noticed when he done the awning it had like 20 poles, does anyone have one of these and does it really take that long to set it up?

I have one and there are a lot of poles but you only need to use the amount that you require for the length of setup you are going to have.  For an overnighter I use 4 or 6 poles, and if I am staying longer I can use most of them.  If you use the lot the annex is very rigid and I have had it tested by some very strong winds over the last 3 weeks.  Several of the poles I leave behind as I dont need them all.

I assisted in setting one up once and have never seen so many poles before, it took two of us to lift the pole bag, As Trevor said, it is mighty solid when all up.

Gee that was painfull to watch, I thought I was slow setting my ct up however after watching that there is no comparison especially how he went about setting up the awning. 

If you set up the centre pole/ridge pole on the awning 1st the awning will simply hold this pole in the vertical position for you, rather then trying to put up the corner poles 1st.  If the spreaders have 'C' clips (there is a better clip like a C on end that hangs better) they can be hung off the ridge pole B4 it is adjusted full height then simply brought across to the corner pole.

That was really painful to watch. I like the text at the end, 'Generally, after a couple of setup practices, main tent can be setup by one person in 10 minutes or something might not be right'.

And it was made quicker with the perfectly flat ground and the poles were already laid out.

I have an xtrail tent and have no issues, The spreader bars DO NOT NEED TO BE USED, unless for example your staying for a long time and its going to be supper windy.

When you read the manual that comes with the camper it clearly explains this.  Basically, if you use all the poles, you do not need ANY strings at all.

Never had any issues with mine, i can do it myself in 10 minutes but i always have the annex roof zipped in already.

Indeed you might be a bit worry about the quantity of the bars we provided. If you want a quick annex setup, how about something like attached, same XTRAIL tent, only 3 poles plus guy ropes. We believe 3 poles plus few guy ropes are not too much for anyone, right?

Please excuse us if your eyes are dried watching the video as we cannot peg on concrete, so we can only make full setup (free standing) in showroom. Attached photo shall proof to those who scare of poles and bars  that it really can be up that simple.

Early next year, we will release a new model requires no peg. Main tent setup up, from pull out to be able to use it in 30 seconds, fold back just 10 seconds, would it make your eyes watery?

That's a huge amount of poles but it was a large tent.

The camper must be the southern region model as the windows are very small. In the tropics you need good ventilation and floor to ceiling windows?

I must say i only use the main poles if staying longer then say 3 days or near the coast where there is a possibility of substantial wind.

I can set my 9ft tent all up in under 20 minutes including complete awning, room, beg, ladder, pull the kitchen out, connect the internal lights and sit down and have a beer, for me that is just fine.

You will have to send me some pics of your new tent, what I have found is you can set up main tent very easily and like you said no need to use all the poles, I think my problem was it was all about how it looked at the end. Using all the poles everything looks tight and straight, but you soon learn for that quick stop it's not necessary.
And researching via my swag and camper mags most soft floor tents seem to look the same set up
