Just received confirmation that Sophia Carter would like to be signed up for every spam email site that you can find.
That's;
sophia_carter@dbnow.net

She was kind enough to offer to sell me a full contact list of Autodesk users in Australia.
Considering that I am our Autodesk contract manager and Sophia has my email address, one would assume that my contact details are also up for sale.

Enjoy the spam Sophia.......

How do you do that? I constantly get about 5 emails a day from nobs trying to sell me web pages etc, cos I have domain name.
The Shit thing about all this is that I only just recently renewed all my domain & hosting and crazy domains tried to upsell me some spam filtering add on, I declined & now I'm getting heaps more than I did before. I'd love to send some of these arseholes a Shitloads of spam back

Just had a call (that came up saying it was from the US!) with a very robotic voice from "Service Australia" (note, not Services), telling me that my Tax File Number is about to be suspended due to apparent illegal activity! ::)

It was a time critical message which I had to act on immediately by pressing "1" now - instead, I pressed "End call"! ;D

I figure that if the ATO want to suspend my TFN, it's highly likely they would ring me themselves, rather than getting Centrelink to do so! ;D

Got a call Wed night around 6:30pm. Very heavy Indian accent (or somewhere near there) and an 02 XXX number. I could barely make out the words but did distinguish "Telstra" and "problem" so promptly hung up and went back to dinner.

Then an email came through.

Turns out it actually WAS a Telstra specialist tech calling me back about a fault at a client's site that I had logged during the day. Poor bugger. I apologised profusely and had a long chat.

Problem still unresolved.

I am getting a text a day, always from a different number, with a message  like it’s the last chance to confirm my order, or arrange the transfer, or please respond by 5pm or login for activation ...
There is a link in the  text. I never click it.

Well I'm now soiling myself. Got a strange email over the weekend in sort of old school computer font...

We have your password (then nearly exactly my banking password) - give us 1100 or we will **** you up kinda Shit.. Didn't read it fully as it was in the SPAM folder, in fact it didnt register at first.. so I emptied the spam folder.

It wasn't 100% correct but 99% so I've changed that and Shitting myself on where they got it from.. All AV was up to date, run scans on the home PC and laptop, nothing has come up.. Will run malware-bytes and spybot (anyone recommend anything else?) when I get home.

I never bank on the phone, don't trust it at all. I've only banked on 2 PC's online. Work and Home. Both have up to date AV etc.

I've said it once I'll say it again I ****ing love going into a bank instead and going to a teller.

They don’t have your current information, but have close to it from a security breach that someone else has had. Various banks and large companies using banking services have been hacked and lost customers financial details over the years. This scam is common enough, because although people re-secure their passwords, you still keep the same contact details (your email address) and as most people’s passwords change very little, when they send you a message asking for cash, the information they have is close to your current information. Because you haven’t changed it enough. Trust me, if they really did have all you financial information, they would not ask for money, they would just empty your account.

After getting a similar email earlier in the year, I have now changed all of my passwords to completely different ones and each one is different to the others so obviously I have no chance of remembering them now. I have stored the new passwords on my phone as a protected document and used the old fashioned paper hard copy at home, just in case the phone dies.
God help me if the house burns down with my phone in it
