I came across with 2 jerry cans one i emptied the fuel in the car washed out and filled with water that was attached to the camper the other fuel container was brand new never been used that was inside the camper and on inspection they spotted it shook it opened it and sniffed it after i explained it has never had a drop of fuel in it that was next to the gennie that they did not even question .

When I came over with the generator not a question was asked. 
They didn't even ask about flares in the boat. 
Depends how busy / fussy your inspector is I guess.
