Modcon Imperial Front Fold Hardfloor Camper trailer Owners
« on: July 12, 2011, 05:53:35 PM »
To make a short story long, I've been looking for a Hard Floor Camper, 3 years in the making, started off looked at a Cub Brumby about 18months ago...no good, tried looking second hand Ozzie Swag, KK and such, too expensive for my tastes.
On the weekend saw this in the flesh:

www.modcon.com.au/model_details.php?m=6

So this has been on the market for about 12months, I've seen the adds, but checked it out at the Lismore camping show, for the money you pay for a new Hardfloor, I get a easy hardfloor set up, with a soft floor payload and space under canvas and annex.

I would like to know from owners of the Modcon Imperial HF Campertrailer, what are they like?, any probs with build quality etc, after sales service?, is the CT living up to yor expectations? Where have you dragged the CT and any probs.

All replies will be appreciated....

Morgue,
With regard to Modcon's build quality, it is brilliant.  We have the Imperial soft floor and previously owned the Modcon Abode.  I have never had any issues with their build quality or service.

Go for it!!

And here I am...

Mate, build quality is great but as I have said before, the electrics are basic so I have added some things - Are the power outlets inside the kitchen? If so, think about having them external rather than internal - also they did [not sure if they still] supply ciggie plugs, we opted for Merit.

We have the Elysimum and since buying it they price has jumped [or leaped] by some $10k. Mostly due to the diesel heater/hws but not sure about the Imperial.

As for storage, they are great, you really have soo much room..probably more than a soft floor.

Really havent been "off road" yet but the only issues I can see is the distance between the draw bar & wheels creating a smaller than normal approach angle [especially with the steps]. We intend to keep track of this issue & will consider removing the steps if they become problematic - replacing them with a plastic step like some vans have.

They now have the ALCO drop leg as for the support for the ratchet strap but make sure that the support brace is strong enough - at least 3mm thick.

Morgue, we are just down the road so, PM me as there is much more to discuss.

Regards
