I'm always closing my tabs from now on.

Can't have Mrs Goldstream telling the whole truth and ruining a good story.

Make sure you enjoy the trip in a few years when the kids are older.

Regards

Hi Mrs Stulux,

Good to hear your side of the story, I`m sure the majority of women will agree with you, as it`s a big ask to undertake such a trip given the circumstances. I`m sure it would be more enjoyable when the children are older.

In the meantime I hope you enjoy your stay in Port Douglas and your husband has a good trip to the Cape.

Regards, Robyn.

Mine won't have anything to do with camping. Only interested in large cities.

Bloody woman doesn't know what she is missing.

Lol. My wife is the same, but maybe it's not the problem I thought it was. I'll happily take my kids with me and give her a break.

>:D  Mrs Stulux here rofl.  That will teach him not to close his tabs.

The reasons I don't want to go:

- Our kids are 8 months, 3, 4 and 7 (yep four of them)  There is no way he would survive with them for a couple of days, let alone 12.
- Our youngest screams in the car, our town is only small and he cries almost every trip.
- I get horrendously car sick, so a driving holiday is not my idea of fun.  I just want to go somewhere set up camp and stay there for a while.
- I worry about being so remote if something happens to the baby
- Stulux is going with his mates, so the holiday will consist of him driving, fishing and drinking with mates while I wrangle kids while feeling like crap from being in the car.

I really would love to see the cape, I am sad that we won't be going.  But realistically with the kids this young it is just going to be horrible for me.  Perhaps if he had actually asked me about going before he planned it, I would have said the same and planned for next year or the year after  :D

The kids and I are going to have a blast doing all the touristy stuff, and the bonus is it will be much cheaper with only one adult and 2 kids to pay for (kids 3 and under seem to be free a lot of places)  Can't wait!!  I couldn't find anything in Cairns remotely close to $65 per night :(

Some serious issues there Mrs Stulux.  Can see why you are hesitant.  Trips are only what you make of it I reckon.  I think perhaps you are selling yourself a bit short before you've given it a go, as I'm sure you'd enjoy it thoroughly.  However, there is always next year or the year after as you say.

Although I've never suffered motion sickness, I belive ginger beer is a great way to cure it ... the ginger being the important thing ... unless you are particial to ginger choc coated?  Give that wives tale a try on your way up there and see how it goes. I'd be interested to know, as The Man's boy suffers whilst on boats.  He got the nickname Burley Boy after one trip outside, turning green not long after we started out.  It was his first trip on a boat too, and it was a shame he didn't enjoy it.  Alas The Boy won't touch ginger with a 50 foot pole, and didn't want to take the motion sickness tablets before we left.

Firstly good on you for giving your side of the story. I for one can totally understand your point and not for a second would i believe that anyone would realistically have a come back on what you have stated. I realise that this forum is rather male dominated and i may get shot down for agreeing with you but too bad. I can only see the outcome as a win win for all. hubby will enjoy himself and the rest of the family will no doubt have a great time what ever you get up to. Cheers Paul.

The bestest cure for car /boat/ airplane - motion sickness is a patch  called SCOPERDERM TTs 1.5 , 72 hrs relief per patch , contains 1.5mg of scopolamine , only problem is that they are not available in Australia , we get ours sent over from an online pharmacy in NewZealand ,is the only thing that has worked for our young fella [now 13] who throws up if in a car /boat /bus /airplane /seaworld rides etc.
