A spectacular view of Spencers Gulf and the Port Augusta area can be seen from Hancocks Lookout, located at the top of the historic Horrocks Pass, seven kilometres off the road to Port Augusta (coming from Wilimington).
Large Sugar Gums and drooping Sheoaks give an indication of the former woodland vegetation.
From the open parking and picnic area sweeping western views can be seen of the Spencer Gulf, Port Bonython, Whyalla, Mount Laura, Middleback Ranges and Dutchmans Stern Range to the north.
Horrock's Pass was named after the explorer John Horrocks who descended through the pass in 1840 on his ill-fated journey north.
