I am unsure if I will renew my sub to this mag. I would really like it if they were to give me an up to date new on subject DVD instead of an old recycled one.
As far a reviews go I think there is a place for a table review.
You know like model, price, size of tent, kitchen, water tank etc.
So this would give at a glance some trailers to have a closer look at and search for.
My thoughts

Well I have 5 mags left in the CTT subscription and as I keep telling the people that ring me ... I won't be renewing at any price ... and it's been things other than the magazine being the reasons to not renew.  I'm a bit disallusioned as to how the $ savings can be worth it in the long run when you take the following into account.

The Post Office won't put it in my PO Box ... I have to collect when able on a Saturday AM or arrange someone else to collect it on my behalf ... extremely annoying and this means that I'm getting the mag after it hits the stands in some cases.

The free DVD's (which we love btw) haven't been coming even after calling the call centre staff, they still aren't coming and I've had to call them again and again ... wish they'd just get it right first time ... and as for 4 copies of the same DVD one after the other ... well my friends all get a copy too.  The PO won't put them in my PO Box when they come seperately either.  One thing I am annoyed about with the DVD's however ... 10 major locations ... 30 DVD's to cover them.  It's the same 10 destinations over and over and over.  Where is the trip to Min Min country or the Pinnacles or Normanton or Mornington Peninsula or the Nullabor?  You need some new locations guys!

Yes I think they are getting thinner ... but just on worthy content ... not the actual size of the mag.  The ads are getting larger, longer and taking up more space ... so I guess somethings gotta go ... not sure why it's the articles though.  I really don't mind it the CT reviews are axed altogether, as I don't see much in the way of value in these ... we have a CT and are no longer looking at different ideas etc, but I can see how they would be valuable to a new purchaser ... maybe a different mag for these as a special buy? ... then they could upgrade to the trips and repairs version when ready ...

So I think maybe I'll just buy the DVD's once a year in a bundle when they are available.  So far it's the real reason we look forward to them each month (considering comments above though).  In future, I may peruse the newsagent and pick a mag with something in it that interests me or ask my local library to start getting copies of it again (tax payers dollars going to a great cause).

I had a call to renew a few nights ago. I told them I wouldn't be renewing this magazine. I've been a subscriber to 4WDA since almost the start I believe, and certainly since CTT kicked off, but as you have all stated there is no new content, of the little content there is.

I truly hope the editorial staff look at this, as we are surely their target market, and we are turning away. Ed, if you read this feel free to contact me, I'd happily give you my feedback, not as a whinge, but as someone passionate about campers and camping.

Top Gear doesn't care who they offend and they are the top rating show on the planet. Thjey don't seem to have a problem raising advertising dollars. Say it like it is. The people will be grateful, buy the mag and the advertisers will just have to toe the line.

Different scenario - it's the adverts between Top Gear segments that bring the advertising dollars in for the network running the show. The show itself can be neutral because it's not taking any money from sponsors or advertisers.

The recycling in CT mags was predictable, 4WD mags have been doing the same thing for years now. There's not much new to write about, unfortunately...

I'm down to 1 mag left on my CTT subscription. The renewal email with the lastest deal has come done from $100 for 12 issues to $45 for 12 issues. I wasn't going to renew but at $45 it is tempting.

I have been a subscriber to 4WDA for many years, and I basically flick through it now, especially the reviews on some GQ110 Nisota build up, and it could get the same with camper, especially the soft floor models.

I like the DIY articles, and they seem to offer a lot of family orientated travel features.

Likewise, i recently sold 120 issues for 20 bucks. A few years worth. I am not subscribing anymore as the mag is full of adds. The same old story every month. Maybe you could start a mag called Myswag lol

I won't be renewing CTT, there's just nothing in it. I can read it in one visit to the can.

I stopped subscribing to CTT, custom and 4wdaction well over 12-15 months ago as the info that was in one mag was repeated in the other mags a month or two later. Yeah the travel articals were interesting, and the tips and techinques were good but the value for money wasn't there anymore. You could and still do get some great deals on these mags but I don't want to have to pay for a mag then read an ad.

Hi,
the Mrs picks up various 4wd mags from the library every week or so. I find them less informative than the info available on line.
Even if there is an article of interest that I read, googling the subject gives more information than the article in most cases.

They are between a rock and a hard place I feel, perhaps they would do better to scrap the advertising and go online with quality journalism behind a pay-wall. That could be risky too I suppose, glad I'm not in the game.

cheers

I used to just ask GuRich what was coming up in the magazine, but he has not had any articles in the mag of late  ;D

I stopped my sub to CTT a while ago but let's face it.. With the exception of a few unique brands the majority of camper trailers are much the same by basic design and it comes down to price v quality in most cases.

it's also a tough ask to pump outsomethign like this as a monthly and keep consistently quality content going

I think that stories about the adventures we can have with our CT's are more interesting

It had to happen http://www.4wdaction.com.au/articles/2012/great-prices-4wders

Express Media Group (EMG) has taken a financial interest in Tigerz11 and Roo Products to allow them to offer 4WD Action readers a larger range of products at really great prices.

Rest assured 4WD Action’s editorial policy and integrity will not alter as a result of this and we will continue calling things as we see them.

I got the EMG call today with their final offer as my subscription had run out, 20 editions for $100, I was tempted for a nanosecond then said no thanks.
