Would still love to see Watson replaced as well as Haddin.

mmm... Haddin (as well as Mitch) is the difference between the 2 teams. He has batted well and kept even better , as opposed to Prior and the other Clown that played for the poms in Melbourne.

Wattos gone ok too. I dont think I would be dropping any of them in a hurry, but I would be managing the pace bowlers as they are bound to start getting sore, and with a trip to South Africa in Feb, it would be nice to have them fresh.

Our top order batsmen ,yes including Clarke ,are all suspect to adopting plan B when it's needed ! We saw that again in the first innings in Mel .In my opinion if it's a cop out for people to say " Ah it's the way Peterson plays" as many in the media are saying it surly holds true for Warner ,Watson ?
Onwards to Sydney and hopefully another win ! But thinking that this team is going to do as well against SA as they have done against the Poms is drawing a long bow!

Haddin has hit some form, but after the Argus report I can't believe they gave him another go. If the team needed youth why appoint a 37 year old keeper vice captain. Yep, Wade was probably not up to it but is every other keeper in Australia older than 37? Haddin has done enough to keep his spot, but I don't think he should have got it back.

As for Watson, he could hit a triple hundred in Sydney and he still wouldn't convince me he is a test player. Too inconsistent and too injury prone. He wen 40 odd innings between hundreds, not many get that. And during those 40 innings you can't say he was winning games with the ball, he spent most of that time injured and unable to bowl.

While the team is winning I have no doubt they will go unchanged. Lets see how they the whole team) go in South Africa against some quality opposition on tracks not made to suit their strengths like the spinning tracks in India.

These are my opinions, and neither of these players have done anything this summer to make me change my mind. But, Mitchel Johnson, I am glad to say, has. I'm glad he is back and hope he can continue bowling like this for the rest of his career.

i agee with the term "trolling" being wrong in this instance....it gave me laugh anyhow Jasen, seeing you trying to get someone to admit England won the first innings   ;D ;D

Someone's got to try and keep the banter going, the England side isn't giving me much to work with though!

O well at least a win in the final test will be something to look forward to.

Will anyone actually admit that there is a chance that England could win?

There is a chance England could win.

There is also a chance that I could win the lottery.

I would put my money on me winning the lottery before England winning the last test, however there is a chance. :)

As I see it for England to win they need --

1 - A new fresh alive awake and jumpy keeper !!

2 - A.Cook has to change from defensive mode to attack mode !!

Going back to basics - sort of ...

Mandrake,

Last time England won in Australia I seem to recall they had a large contingent of South African born (like KP) players. Perhaps a few more imports into their team might help. :)

I think England's best chance is for that dirty Mexican to damage his bowling arm.

He is about as popular with the English as Johnny Wilkinson was with the Aussies in 2003.

At least the English are not crying one man team lol

England are a shattered team atm.
A lot has to change for their attitude to believe they winners again.
Hey, I could be wrong, but their body language says a lot about how they are playing atm.
Teams go through these periods at times.
And unfortunately, I am not a betting man, never have been, never will be.

I'm not a betting man either but I would like to think that they will come out fighting to save a bit of dignity.

Mate,

The English are just crying so uncontrollably that they can't do their usual whinging! Can't even blame an umpiring decisions it has been so comprehensive!

I had forgotten how unpopular cricket is in the UK. Lucky if you get 2 minutes on the news. No one is interested in the Ashes.
It's all about the football here.

Serious question, does that have anything to do with the fact they aren't playing well at the moment?

It only needs 2 minutes on the news to cover all of the English highlights. :D

It goes a lot deeper, 17 years without the Ashes lost a generation.

So what you're saying is England is used to not having the Ashes so when it came time to give them up, it wasn't 'real' news rather than just the inevitable???  ;D
