10 years or so ago, I agree, but in these days of large sponsor contracts I don't think so. Players are supplied with bags of bats which are disposal. No need to tamper with them.

So thats why Warner was so quiet on it all

Quote
Steve Smith was not aware of key elements of Australia's ball tampering plot until he saw the incident on the Newlands big screen, according to Cricket Australia's investigation.

While David Warner refused on Saturday to divulge his exact involvement in the ball tampering crisis that has rocked Australian cricket, details are starting to emerge from the events of last Saturday at Newlands.

Fairfax Media can reveal investigators were told Smith did not know how the plan would be carried out until after Bancroft had been exposed on the big screen. It's believed they found Smith had expressed his dislike of the plan but did not attempt to stop it.

Media reporting this morning that channel 9 has lost the coverage rights, Foxtel has won them....no word yet if 7 or 10 will be the free to air channel broadcasting the game.

Bugger.  I think that’s for 2019. Will have to switch back to Telstra.  Going to be very interesting to see how the Australians go over the next few years.

because people (like me) watch it quite a bit... just because you don't, it's obvious that plenty of others do...

would be happy if the ch10 20/20 commentators did the test matches... punter, flem, gilly and the rest did a great job n the 20/20... a breath of fresh air...

foxtel and 7 confirmed as new crickets rights holders...

http://www.afr.com/business/media-and-marketing/tv/cricket-australia-set-to-sign-1-billion-deal-with-foxtel-and-seven-west-media-20180412-h0yp9r

looks like less 20/20 on FTA, in particular, which i think will be counter-productive to its growing popularity...

will wait and see, i guess...

That's the way I see it, but hopefully not. It's stuffed the V8's because now we only get to see a few races a year.

Hopefully they leave the Big Bash as is. I don't think they can improve on it with big changes, I reckon it is great coverage.

thats lovely... I still dont see a billion in it, unless they are going to control it more, **** it up to shove more ads and ad breaks in there

I still think Norman May was the best cricket commentator on the ABC all those years back - he didnt ramble, and just commentated the game.. unlike the boys club with their in-jokes of 20/20.. Richie B was also on par with May until his bottom lip hit the floor, cant stand the chappells, taylor or warne.

jim maxwell is the best for me...

i found the exact opposite with the 20/20 commentary, plenty of actual analysis with very little boys club rubbish...

considering more of the cricket is going behind the foxtel paywall, can't see ch7 being any worse then ch9 when it comes to inane adverts...

Turn the volume off on the TV, and tune in ABC radio commentary.

Yup, they've lost me if they do the same as they did with the V8s

agree.

'Tis means cricket fans will have to pay for a Foxtel subscription at home - or their mobile devices - to watch all one-day and Twenty20 internationals as well as 16 matches of the Big Bash League.

About a third of Australian households currently have access to Foxtel, meaning Cricket Australia's decision to partly step back from the reach of free-to-air television in favour of pay-TV's lucrative offer could attract political scrutiny.

its only for the next 6 yrs LMAO  anyone think that the politicians will stomp their feet adn do nothing ???

their plan is once they **** it up enough, it wont be worth that much next time
