It was only a couple of months ago we were toasting 5000 members. We're now closing in fast on 6000 members. Who will be the lucky 6000 member?

I presume that someone will be able to do some queries on the DB to show counts of users who have posted in the past x days.

Well I see 5 active in this thread already.  Long way from 6000 but a worthy start.  Now how many are blokes and how many are sheila's.  That would be an interesting statistic too.

I did a bit of searching, and of the 5700+ members currently, 3321 members have NOT posted anything. This is interesting, and that's all. No need to change anything, members can contribute as much or little as they please, though the forum is enriched by more contributors.

As a FEMALE member of only 6hrs and 12 mins i do alot more reading. So many old posts with many great ideas to learn from. I have posted a couple of times asking questions, but yeah for now i am happy to read up on things that interest me and make me laugh. I have only been a member for about 2 weeks i think. Though all the reading i have done feels so much longer. But have learnt heaps that i want to put into action. Best thing i did was joining. Hubby can have his fishing ones, i keep this lol.

If you have done that then the browser does the logging on for you - so you do in fact still log on, even though you don't have to type it in manually.

Is there any chance you can bulk PM those and just give them a nudge - like in *Hi Hope your enjoying the forum would love to hear more from you - regard the MySwag Team* or some thing like that..

Like you say, it's no big deal but I do like it when we get some newer questions - swings and roundabouts though,Ii know. Worth a shot though IMO

One of the forums I administered for the UN had an automatically generated email reminder go out to members who had no activity for three months and if they didnt become active (at least use the site) by 5 months they were moved to the inactive list and would have to reapply and change passwords to become active again.  It was a great way to clean up the site and get rid of deadwood.

i think a lot of people are using the site to lurk and learn. there's no real point in forcing people to post just to keep themselves active, surely that just leads to padding posts? IMHO of course

As were talking about it I'd say I'm in the same category as Brett above.  I'm on most days especially days like today when it's 40+ again (into the 2nd week now and no end in sight) and on days like these here in Coober you can't do much but watch the box (thank god for sport) or get on the puta.  A little bit more active on here at the moment as we are waiting for a new Cub Brumby (mid may ??) and looking at various things re that.  All good and sometimes very bloody funny.

United Nations

Also I didnt mean they have to post, just looking did keep members active, as long as they are doing something.  The ones we were trying to filter out were the ones that did nothing over a long period of time.
