First Trip in the Eagle!
« on: August 08, 2011, 10:29:50 AM »
Hi all,

Done our first little trip in the new ct and had a few small issues. We went down to Arthur River where my in-laws have 200 acres, its about 200kms south east of Perth. Its a beautiful little spot to take the kids on the motorbikes herding up sheep and cattle, pulling yabbies out of the dam. But anyway we had some little setbacks nothing to major though.

Firstly we opened the camper up to discover that the fridge had opened up with all the contents rolling around in the camper. The locking latch doesn't seem to hold if you put some pressure on it, not a big problem will get a decent child lock latch and put it on to stop this. I know the old Dometic Fridge had a small locking pin which could be a little hard to open but would definitely keep the fridge locked while travelling.

Then we pulled out the bag flys to realise they had them back to front. We changed these ourselves not a big job but was a bit annoyed that they couldn't get that right.

Went to pack up and the wife snapped the little cast clip at the top off the door panel, she said she had opened it but maybe not (hopefully she doesn't read this). Maybe an idea to carry a few little spares when we go to do some big trips.

Super happy with the hot water system happy with the upgrade there instead of boiling water all the time and nice hot showers outside.

Just a insight to our first and many trips to come after the few problems everything thing else seemed to work fine.

Cheers Rooster :D

If that's all that ever goes wrong, you're laughing.  I know it's hard to smile about it at the time.

Got any pics of your trip away?

I too have broken a few of the clips on top of the door panel, these are prone to move after you have released them,

Hey Rhys, great to see you out there in your new set up.  You'll be in big trouble here soon tho if you don't get some pics of your trip up  ;D  Not too mention being in even bigger trouble if your wife DOES happen to read this

hi Rooster

we had the same problem with the fridge in our swan on its first trip, jayco fixed It under warranty but all they did was use a pinchbar and a block of wood to bend the lower hinge up hasn't been a problem since
