It's been 10 years
« on: June 23, 2021, 11:34:01 PM »
Hi all. yeah it's been 10 long years since I was on this site. I haven't been my usual self. I have posted a couple of posts recently. I hope I haven't been forgotten by the the older members. I still have my trusty BT50 which made it to the cape and the NT twice. The BT50 will be getting a workout shortly, going to the cape again, this time with my wife and furry friend. I would love to hear from any of my old friends . I will be passing through Cairns on the 16th and 17th of July. If you would like to hear from me just PM me. Any member heading to the Cape from Cairns on the 17th July who would like company please PM me.

Bert

Hi Bert,

Good to see you back again. Yes it has been quite a while.

I well remember the 2012 Cape York trip and the 2013 Gulf trip. We all had such a great time.
I also remember you hanging around to make sure we were OK when we did a radiator at Lorella Springs... :cup: :cup:

A few of the old names are still here. A lot have moved on or pop in very rarely.....but there does seem to have been a but of a resurgence of late.... ;D ;D

Good luck with your revisit to the Cape.

You are alive Bert.

I remember sleeping with you on a trip to The Cape.  ;D

Great times had, not sleeping with you, but the adventure.

Well I took the wife to the cape. We stayed at loyalty beach. We got told that 4 crocs were on the beach on Wednesday night, no size given though.  I loved it but the wife didn't like the tent. She spotted a couple of MDC's and liked them so it looks like that is what we will be getting. I was impressed to. Anyhow I couldn't believe the price of fuel was actually cheaper in Seisa now than it was 10 years ago. Bramwell junction was the dearest at $2.05.  It was in the high 30's when we stopped at Lakefield on the way up and didn't seem to get any cooler the whole time. We didn't do much of the OTL because she saw 2 being towed back to Bramwell's from the first crossing. We did go to the water falls and camped at canal creek. The corrugations were bad coming back all the way until Musgrave (first day), with most of the dips and floodways real bad between Coen and Archer River. Black top from Laura all the way back home. With the Cowboys playing Friday night I was forced to drive to Sarina to get a motel room (second night). Conclusion, even without doing much of the OTL it definitely was an adventure with the wife but never again in a tent even for 1 night. I needed another bottle or 2 of Tullamore Dew.
