Interesting concept.
A few things:
If you really need to get clean washing in dirty water is not for me.
Appreciate your opinion McGirr thank you for posting.
Agreed - Everyone has different luxuries that they determine are essential for their camping trips. I know of plenty of guys who consider a shower is not essential at all for a couple of night camping trip. I can handle this for overnight camping trips, but is still not my preference and this diminishes my camping experience.
Showering in 5-10L of water to yourself, is in my opinion - when not filthy, not an issue at all, and usually my wife and I would share this water. We have done this plenty of times and its not concerned either of us who goes first.
Of course, when water is more easily found & replaced - we enjoy more to ourselves. All depends on where you camp, and how much water you can carry. Usually we take only 40 - 60L for all our washing, drinking & cooking needs to last at least a few nights.
If the idea is to change the water for the next person nothing really has been gained as each person uses the same amount of water.
Depends on what kind of shower experience you're looking to compare it to and how much of a hassle getting more water is.
In my opinion, a hot water bag is only a nice shower when in Spring or Summer, and if you're showering in the late afternoon. I find those bags do not have enough water flow, and dont hold enough water, to give you a 'similar to home' shower experience. I find it a small improvement from a bird bath.
The Evershower when paired with a hot water system, gives you the closest I've found yet to a 'almost like home' shower experience. But while using limited water with a nice water flow rate.
For instance you & your family enjoy 10m+ showers at home - if you were to do this with the Joolca, without the Evershower or any kind of method for recirculation - you'd have used 60 litres of water.
You can pair the Evershower with the Joolca and use only 5-10L. Depending on water availability, you could recirculate this for each member of the family & everyone would be by comparison - much cleaner.
Or, you could each use 5-10L to yourself and still be ahead of one person showering for 10m with the Joolca.
Ultimately, it comes down to what is valuable to you & your family when you go camping. Showers for many are a life luxury that people do not want to miss out on when camping. This allows them to do that in more places.
A luxury I'm happy to do without when camping is a table and for a few trips in a row, I left it behind without consulting my wife. However, she has since instructed me that she does not enjoy camping without one. So we take one now !
A bit pricey.
The price I think is fair for the custom mouldings, and highly polished product that's instantly fit for purpose. But of course, the tinkerer, could make something up in their shed that may end up being cheaper after he's poured many hours of his time hunting items, and copying this.
But of course, I obviously think its good value - as we've already bought them to stock our stores ! I know Larry has been doing quite nicely on his show tours around Australia too
But ultimately, thats the great thing about camping everyone does it a bit differently.
