Was meant too be heading up for a few days as we have the past few years at this time but I got my Uni start back dates mixed up, we have found, although being school holidays there is still a heap of space through the week, Weekends are quite a bit busier but nothing like Easter/Christmas when it get's chaotic.

Hey, Craig, back in the 70's I placed a Permanent Survey Mark up on the Teewah Sand Patch  and was thinking that perhaps you could pop up and have a look if it's still there.  ;D
We had to dig a bloody big hole in the hot, loose sand, place a length of fibro chimney flue (from memory about three metres), back fill the hole around the flue, fill the flue with premix cement and  place the mark on top.
I have been back twice for a sticky beak, both in the 80's and the first time it was buried and the second it was about a metre and a half out of the sand.
I found a fair bit of Fulgurite up there as well. It forms when lightning hits sand and fuses it into glass lined hollow rods.

We have found this time of year great there, not so much in the way of crowds, beautiful days that aren't overly hot, cool enough at night for a fire, don't have to worry about summer storms ruining everything, whales galore etc etc.

Hi Steffo, What side did you come in from the beach or the Noosa river, Sounds like something I would like to find where abouts on the sand patch is it, as you know it pretty big, as I have never been there, Craig

Craig, you're asking a lot from my brain cells. This is as close as I can remember.

I wouldn't recommend it to anyone of a mature age who isn't up in their fitness level. Walking uphill in loose sand is a killer.
