EFS Bullbar

Does anyone have any info on EFS bull bars?  Quality?  I like the price but know nothing else of them, I Spoke to the agent in WA yesterday and they sung their praises (as i expected they would being a dealer).

Im in the market for a bullbar for our hilux, having been quoted 3.3k for the ARB / TJM branded ones and my wife giving me concerning looks im starting to look at other options to bring the cost down, but still want quality.

Have a look at the Ironman bars.. They have come along way in recent times... was at the head office recently looking at bits and pieces..

You can get 'fleet bars' for around 1K, if you not so worried about the look and just functionality then they are the go.

I have a fleet bar on my Hilux, functionally wise its tops. The approach angle is good, has heaps of light mounting points with tabs on top of the bar as well, big openings to access the winch, High lift points and the winch cradle is removable with four bolts and come out from underneath so you don't have to take the whole bar off get to it. Yeah its not as easy on the eye as a 3.3k one but it grew on me.

You've read me wrong, i didn't say i absolutely wanted the ARB / TJM, just have been quoted that and mentioned it to my wife, Im very very happy to pay a lot less for a well functioning bull bar, hence my decision to keep searching and that i have found the EFS Bar that was quoted $1480 to supply, knowing nothing about them im asking the crowd here if they do. 

Id love to get a link to the fleet bar you have so i can look at and add to my list of possibilities. 

We are a single income family so cost savings are high on my priorities when looking to build our ute up for touring.

The price of bars has shocked me while ringing around in the last week chasing a new one. Even ARB was 1800 for the GU . 3.3k something sounds wrong there, nobody would be buying them!!

To me in the past ECB bars were reasonable quality build wise (not sure about hitting animal quality ), but very homely.. only a face mother could love. Mate has one on a several year old Mazda B series ute and it doesn't do it any favours ... lol

tried ebay? Plenty of good items there at moment - depending what year yours is.

TJM and ARB fleet bars usually win our business. Less than half the money you are talking - that is the price for a colour coded sahara bar with all the trimmings.

And for the 2011 - 2015 model it is $1,400 fitted

No experience with EFS, but they are expanding from suspension to other off-road parts. The A4A boys promote them. I think the new series start soon and they will probably have EFS bar work.
Those two nornmally test product to the extreme, so it would give you an idea of what the EFS bar work is made of.

I can vouch for the ironman deluxe winch bar. I have a colour coded on on the Amarok after ARB quoted me $3300
Ironman bar $800, paint $150, fitting $150
$1100 all up 3 1/2 years ago and has survived 3 large animal strikes (big Roos) with almost no damage. I drive brisbane to Emerald regularly, a bit over 2000klms of country roads at dusk and dawn without any fears for my vehicle

I am looking for a bull bar now.  Can anyone advise how much of a difference there is between steel and alloy bars in noticeable weight and price?   I'm fitting it to a Colorado. Thanks.

I'll offer up the same advise I gave my son when he was looking for a bar for his Colorado.

Research which manufacturer has done the long yards in R&D for airbag compatibility, frontal protection and manufacture.

If you are going the scrub bar/side step option, also look at who has done the R&D on side impact airbag compatibility (as there are very few) and if you fit Joe Blow's Chinese backyard built side steps, your vehicle will NOT be covered by your insurer in a side impact if the OME steps are removed and non compliant steps added (This is first hand info) or worse still, the side airbags fail to deploy.

Yes the cheapies are direct copies of the R&D designed bars, but built to a lesser standard and 9 times outta 10 with lesser quality materials and finishes and the price reflects this..........

In the end it's your own decision however, but a point to consider, is that $3k bar has had $2k of R&D to ensure the compatibility of your vehicle's standard safety fitments.

I just cant compute the price of bullbars anymore.... it just doesnt add up.

and rear bars are a farce.

Each to their own. We love our rear bar and are glad we forked out for the one we did, but there's a lot of reasons why we decided it was the right way to go for us... Our reasons are not going to be someone else's reasons.

Also second the comments about ensuring air-bag compliance and actual R&D. While I think some of the "big brands" prices are crazy, there is a reason they are more expensive than a cheap Chinese import with no R&D, that may or may not actually cause you more damage if you were to have an incident with it installed... That's not to say there isn't middle ground here. Just do your homework and make sure you're happy the bar is actually of benefit, not just a shiny accessory that looks the part and lets you mount lights everywhere.

And also good advice to have a look at the ARB price list (google it) before you call around for quotes. Some sales people will try anything. 🙄 If you're pre-armed with knowledge of what the prices SHOULD be, you've got something to fall back on and question them about when their price sounds a little too out there...

I ended up getting the EFS bar, it arrived here in Karratha today, so will go get it in the next couple of days and fit it up.  I took my time before ordering, i touched base with a couple of people who have them and although i dont know them they gave me what i feel is an honest appraisal and they were both happy with them.  I got it delivered here to Karratha for $1570 so a good deal i feel.

I looked at ironman etc and i just dont want to go with a bumper cut bar, so that ruled out ironman and a couple of others.  i seriously looked into the shoreline extreme bars also but ultimately decided against that style.
