B.E.S.T Water filter
« on: August 01, 2017, 08:01:39 AM »
Hi guys, just chasing some advice on where and how to mount one of the BEST water filters on my modcon. I am thinking of going with the brass or plastic hose fittings type for ease of connection/disconnection which makes it a simple task to back flush and re install. Though I am worried that the standard plastic hose fittings will rattle loose and or break. There is the option of a screw in fitting? Also have people mounted it between the fill line and tank, tank and pump or pump and tap? I am thinking I will install it between the pump and tap? Any thoughts? Thanks

From what i understand, you have to have it after the pump... But you can use it when you fill the water tank via the hose.

For every situation you have 3 choices. Live with it, change it, or leave it. But only pick one

I used Sharkbite pipe and fittings when I installed my filter etc with the screw in option on the filter. These fittings turn on the pipe allowing me to undo out of the filter but stay connected to the pipe. Like you I was a bit worried about the normal plastic hose fittings shaking loose or breaking.

Mounted the filter between the pump and the tap and also tee'd off to a drawbar tap. Have a separate in line joined in before the pump so that if needed I can draw from an external source through the pump, into the B.E.S.T filter and then out a tap into my tank. I don't envisage drawing from any real mucky water but if I need to I will put a strainer on the inlet hose to try and prevent muck getting into the pump.

I use mine when filling the tank, only filtered water is in the tank.
Usually leave it full, spent all my early years on tank water, and the water in my tank is better than most tank water.

I had mine mounted after the filter. It was in a housing behind the guard.

I could pump from the tank or a Gerry can via a house to the sink or into the tank. When ever the pump was used, a pre strainer and the BEST filter was used. This pic shows the susction connection, outlet to the sink connection, the 3 x valves allowed me to change over where the water was to go.

For what it's worth mate, I have a short length of hose that click-fits to the water tank, then the BEST filter, then the normal length of hose to the mains tap. This way the filter can easily be reversed & flushed. I don't want any crap in my tanks, hence the reason for filtering BEFORE it.

Oh and Brass fitting are the way to go, a bit more expensive but never had one burst off.

Thanks for the info guys, I bought the brass fitting type so I can unclip it and fill the tank then re install between the pump and the tap to catch any crud coming out of the tank(which should be very little). Cheers
