looking at buying an ultrarig tarp from BCF for over the CT. Are they any good or is there a better brand ?

I've had one for about 3 years now it's still going strong with no problems and I would buy another one anytime

Same. I found a littler hole in mine recently. It patched up really easily. I am happy with it.

as long as you acrry duck tape, it will be fine! seriously though , we have used ours for years and it has been great. few tiny holes but cant fault the sewing and eyelets. they are in great condition still.

concur with the above comments.

we have used both custom made tarps (quite expensive) for a number of years and have in the last two years bought a 20x24 ultrarig and have found it to be very good. We have often had it up in 20-40knot winds for 3 or 4 days at a time and have found the eye lets to have held in well. No obvious signs of damage.

I think they are pretty good value for money.

Had 2 for about 4 years and use them for fly sheets over tent on annual fishing trip. So far so good and looks like many more years in them.
Also, with the silver side up they keep the tent a lot cooler.

As everyone else has said no troubles, I have 2 a 20X24 and 30X24 and had the big one up in Ballina last easter for the week in rain and 40knots, no damage to tarp, a few poles have buckled but none of the d rings stitches show any sign of wear

The only trouble I had was in a mad mongrel storm at Boondooma Dam a few years ago one of the D rings stretched and came off. We couldn't find it anywhere, guess it went flying as the tarp flapped around. I gust put a small carabina through the webbing loop and it is there to this day. I have a 30x24 a 24x18 and a 18x12. The 24x18 we have had for over 10 years.

I've got 2 in different sizes & had no issues. The only other advice I can offer is do a search for ultrarig on ebay as you might be able to get a better price on there - both mine have been purchased from ebay as 'buy now' items

yes great tarps i have 20x 24 that i put over the camper and its great some trips i dont put the awning up and just use the over hang with a couple of poles so i 100% recommend them

I read on the Oztrail site that the Ultrarig tarp have a 5mm rope welded onto the edges of the tarp.

I am looking at getting one and I am trying to work out if they slide into 6mm sail track. Has anyone tried connecting their ultrarig to sail track?

We use one of these as an awning on our old caravan. Cut the reinforced webbing and D rings off oneside, folded over the seam with a piece of the trusty old 6mm Telecom rope in it and sewed it up using a basic domestic sewing machine with and apholstery foot and thread. Slides in beautifully to the sail track.

For tarp repairs use reinforced aluminium tape (mechanical ductwork lagging tape). It sticks that well it makes normal duct tape look like cello tape. Once stuck down you will never remove it, just tape both sides of the tear and its 100% water proof.

Thanks. I ended up buying a shade cloth style tarp for the kitchen side of my jayco.

However, if I decide I need something more waterproof, thn I reckon one of the ultrarig tarps and some time on a sewing machine could be good.

Join the club (online), find the tarp you like (online), then tell the website to send you an email when it comes on special. Why keep looking when the website will do it for you. Did this myself ages ago and saved $50 on the normal retail price. Worked out to be $40 cheaper than anyone else too.

Here at Capalaba we have BCF on 1 side of the road and Downunder on the other.
90% of the time, downunder are cheaper than Bcf for the same product.

You can order online. Their website always seem to be slow, so give it a bit to load.

On my last trip away last month we decided to take 2 12x18 tarps so I had my ultrarig, and one of the boys went and bought another 12x18. Me thinking that all 12x18 would be the same in relation to eyelets.

Well they are not the ultrarig takes 20 poles and the durarig my mate has takes only 16, so our idea of joining them together did not work out.

when buying look at how many eyelets they have for the size of the tarp, the better ones have more eyelets, and in 40knots you will want everyone of them

I got my Ultrarig for $10 cheaper than the DUC special price ...... it pays to be patient!

Sorry for bringing to life an old topic, but I'm thinking of buying a 16x20 Ultrarig tarp.

I see it has a 5mm rope edge which I'm HOPING works in the standard sail track on a Jayco Swan (I have removed the bagged awning from sail track). I believe the sail track on the Jayco Campers are 6mm.

Surely the 5mm edge on the Ultrarig will be fine? I couldn't find a tarp with 6mm edge.

Can anyone confirm? Cheers

I know I'm bringing up an old post but I just ordered a 24' x 24' Durarig tarp. It was a toss up between Ultrarig or this and I had heard really good things about the durarig so went that way.

I did notice someone mentioning that the Ultrarig were better because they use more poles 20 vs 16. Does this really make a big difference.
