Security and GPS tracking for my camp trailer
« on: January 01, 2017, 12:20:33 PM »
Been scanning the web for a good system but just ended up getting overwhelmed by all the units and info out there..  I,m looking for a simple unit that will do basic security and give a GPS position to follow in case of theft.. But it needs to be a unit that I can conceal in the bowels of the trailer and hook up to permanent power.. As it will be concealed for obvious theft reasons it also needs to have an external aerial to pick up a constant GPS signal.. Would also like to have it integrated with a cheap infra red alarm of some sort if possible, but that may have to be a separate unit for cost reasons..  Any ideas or experience you guy,s may have would be great..
I,m thinking to get the Spot 3 GPS tracker for my own safety on the trip, but dont want to leave that unit with the trailer when I,m out and about off roading so just want a simple second unit to leave permanently in the trailer just for theft purposes.. Maybe a microdot system as a back up also but haven,t looked into that yet.. Will be using a wheel clamp and chain as well.. Not that I don,t trust anyone..  :)
