Porta cot/babies bed
« on: December 18, 2016, 07:59:15 PM »
Hi all,

With the arrival of our second child this year, we went camping for the first time and found space was at a premium as expected.
He is currently 10 weeks and has slept in a porta cot when in the camper. We find this takes up a lot of space and doesn't leave much space for our 4 year year olds swag on th hard floor of the KK. It's ok when in the same spot for a few days and we can use the extra room.
Looking for ideas on smaller/quicker porta cots or what ever as we have a few longer trips planned for 2017.

Cheers. Matt

we used to use a porta cot, called the kindercot. its like a little tent with an inflatable mattress.

worked great for us while our youngest was smaller. has fly screens and solid doors. we even used it outside in the shade and didn't have to worry about mozzies getting her,

it is now up for sale as she has out grown it, (not size wise my 5 year old could fit in it just, she just won't sleep if she can run so we had to go back to the porta cot.)

this is ours we have up for sale on gumtree. price is negotiable.

We've got 3 year old twins. when they were younger they slept in two Baby Bjorn travel cots http://www.babybjorn.com.au/travel-cot/travel-cot-light/ side by side on the floor of our Tvan. You should be able to fit one cot plus a swag on the floor of a KK.

Must be a Hardfloor thing.
We just spent a week on Fraser, had the twins (2.5years) in a portacot each, soon to be replaced by bunks. The big boy (6years) on a single wanderer compact stretcher.
It's funny though, every morning we magically had all 5 of us on the queen/king mattress.

Another option is the Phil and Ted's traveller. Mesh sides, Self inflating mattress, Optional sun cover for the top and the front zips out to make it into a little play area.

We found we had plenty of room in the Oztent for it, our bags and double mattress.
