TVAN Canning front box
« on: June 30, 2016, 09:37:10 PM »
Hi all,

I am looking at an 08 TVAN Canning tomorrow morning which doesn't have the front storage box but apparently has done one trip of around 400kms and put into storage since. Their asking $28k.

Do those who have one without the extra storage and fridge compartment wish they did?

Does anyone know if it is possible to buy the front storage box off Track and install it myself? Otherwise I would look at getting a custom one made up.

Cheers folks!

That's a good price, not cheap, but they seem to hold their value.
Front box was not an option until roughly 2011 onward on the MkIII.
Then some owners retro fitted the new box to their older trailers, had to be the longer A frame trailer.
2008 model is known as a MkII. and may have what's called a short or normal A frame.
The longer A frame was an option, I think 2008 on but could have been earlier.
There was an extension that track fitted to the short one which put extra (approx.) 500mm into the trailer A Frame length.
If you want the box, you have to give up on the frame for the jerrys.
There was also a battery in with the Jerrys and took up one of the spots.
I shifted my 2 Batteries to the rear of my Canning Tvan., similar to the latest model tvan.
Not only did it give me back spots for 2 Jerry's, but it improved the weight balance too.
If you purchased the box from Track it may not be as cheap as a custom built one.

Track Trailer owners have a web site you may like to visit.

Good Luck.

Always, but the GCM gets in the way    ;D ;D ;D

To be fair, I carry all the canvas, ensuite and all the annexe.
My under bed storage is taken up with 3 wooden boxes (12mm. ply).
They hold a fair amount.  They sit in place, but slide easily on the carpet.
Other things like Gennies, fridges can travel on the floor at the end of the bed and you can usually close the hatch without much effort.

That's a fair of price for an 08, some go for up to $32K subject to extras.
Our 06 has no box as explained and we are on a trip of 3 weeks at the moment.
With the right crates and bags under the bed we manage quite well.
I have made a frame for a crate on the spare rack and stood the spare vertically.
This gives storage for a porta loo and shower gear.
I prefer the fridge in the car so I have it on trips and this works well at camp.
We don't carry anything other than the breakfast shelf and a roll of carpet on the bed, we do a lots of overnights with just a hatch canvas.
It's not unusual to leave on trips at midnight and pull up at 2am for 6hours, deck down-hatch up-canvas on-in bed, about a 5 min job.

Check your rear door or tail gate will open over the drawbar, as has been said there was 2 lengths available.
Also be aware TVans are heavy on tounge, mines @160kg and 1100kg on the axle.
