Earthquake in NT
« on: May 22, 2016, 09:10:02 AM »
Just saw on another forum:

An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.1, unusually powerful for Australia, has struck outside of Alice Springs.

The quake hit at 4:14am, 125 kilometres west of Uluru, at a depth of about 10 kilometres, according to Geoscience Australia.

Two aftershocks measuring 3.8 and 3.4 were recorded in the hour afterwards, and senior seismologist Johnathan Bathgate said more were expected.

News reported no injuries or damage.    125km west of Uluru.
Why doesn't that surprise me?

We have just this morning been chatting to our friends at Kings Creek Station where the earth moved for them...rattling the cupboard doors and anything else around - including them.  No damage to speak of but the earth quake was certainly felt there and they are only about 250km as the crow flies from Alice Springs....

the earth moved my partner out at Kintore, for that first time and a couple of times after. There has been around a dozen aftershock tremors since then!
