Towing Mirror

For the past 5 years I have been towing my Cub Supamatic Escape Offroad camper trailer without the need for towing mirrors.

I have recently purchased a 2011 New Age Bilby for my 2010 BT50 dual cab ute to tow .

Can anyone comment on the HAIGH MH717 Strap-on Towing Mirror? http://www.haigh.com.au/products/caravan-trailer-4wd/towing-mirrors/towing-mirror-3-detail

I am keen to find out how they go as far as vibration on stability eg when trucks pass.

I have one for my 2010 Colorado.  Done about 15k with it on all sorts of roads and conditions and have had no issues whatsoever.  You just need to make sure you have it fitted with all four nibs under the mirror back and the straps tensioned correctly.

I've been using the Milenco Grand Aero towing mirrors since I got my van late last year. No issues with folding back in & extremely easy to fit

After throwing good money at 3 different types of towing mirrors ( which were all crap ) but you buy them with the sales pitches that they will work fine ( mutter  mutter )...then i finally went and bought Clearview towing mirrors for my BT50....removed original mirrors and fitted new ones my self...and now i will never ever have any problems....Clearview mirrors are quite large and take a little bit of getting used too......but now i know they will never blow off or vibrate out of position....The only thing you need to ask one's self is.......the $600 price tag !!!!....remembering that i just spent over $200 on the crap that didn't work.

Grumpy, I've had those mirrors for about 6 years now. For the price they're great, but if I was on the road for an extended period I'd probably look at something more permanent / higher quality.  On an NM Pajero, vibration is minimal unless the roads are really rough and I've had the drivers mirror fold in 2-3 times (in 6 years) passing trucks on single lane roads at 100 clicks.
I'm happy enough with them.  For what they cost, you can afford to carry a spare set.

Thanks for the replies. No real negative feedback for a modestly priced unit gives me a warm feeling.....or is that something else...

Tracker: My BT50 is the older series BT50 and they don't make Clearview mirrors for this model. This may be a blessing considering the price.

Sol: I have not picked up the Bilby yet. I am getting the brake controller and electrical connections for the Bilby done today. I will post pics later.

I know it is not what you asked but I fitted a set of clearviews to my 80 series.

They are a bit of money but what a difference they make, look good and you don't have to remove and add the mirrors.

IMO, the best set of mirrors I have had towing.

Yes I can see why those Clearview mirrors are the bees knees but if you're not up to the price then forget all the other clip-ons and suction cups, etc and get yourself strap ons like these-

If you're fussy about your duco you might want to put some duct tape under the strap and foam buckle pad as they'll pick up road dust and dull your clear coat a bit but that's the only drawback as they're easy on and off while travelling.
