Tiling experts?

Do we have any tilers on here who can give some advice on tiling over old floor tiles?

We have about 100m2 in our house and the original plan was to pull up the tiles and have the concrete ground and sealed.
Anyway, started to pull up the old tiles today, and these things just won't move. It's like they have been glued down with 20mm of concrete! House was built mid 70's
Tried everything, even a demolition hammer and the tiles just shatter with no hope of getting the adhesive up.
Plan B .... Get a tiler in to tile over the old tiles.

Question is, is it worth tiling over the old tiles? I know people do it, but is it successful long term?

Tiling over old tiles is an option when the old ones are stuck down like yours.
You will need to grind the old surface to give the new adhesive something to stick to.
Hire a concrete grinder (looks a bit like a floor polisher) and vacuum from a hire shop. You dont need to remove all of the old shiny surface, but it does need to be well scratched.
Its very noisy, so clear everyone out of the house for a day put your ear plugs in and go for it.
Its not a quick job and expect to spend up to a day on the end of the grinder.
Dont forget if you lay tile on tiles, you will need to trim the bottom of any doors affected.

There are specific adhesives for gojng over old tiles. No grinding,  just a primer/sealer coat first.

Remember doing my kitchen tiles. Maybe only 8m2 but had to come up because of windows to the floor. Bought  a cheap demo drill form Bunnings. Was cheaper in the long run. Lots of noise, lots of dust, lots of nagging from the missus. Could only handle doing it in stages. Took a while to get it all off. Same thing as yours, stuck there for good. Wonder if you get work like that today? Anyways good luck with 100m2.

Just did this three days ago! There is certainly glues that will adhere to tiles and have done so in the past. Unfortunately these tiles had to come up cause some where loose so tiling over wasn't an option. Are they on grout?  It might be easier to get under the grout? But certainly if you have no issues with hieghts, loose tiles or the fall tiling on top will work
