tool box DEPTH size Front to Back for webber baby Q / Q100
« on: December 30, 2015, 07:34:19 PM »
Hi all .. well my camper mods are coming along and next step is a home for a baby Q..

Now I am yet to get my birthday present (the baby Q high lid)

now I have been online and tried all the dimensions avail on line and its just not clear or i dont trust it enough to use as a buying guide.

So what do you have if you have a toolbox that stores the baby q .. I am mainly interested in the DEPTH front to back .. the height and length are not a concern as these are easy to manage during purchase its just that front to back..and some boxes have up to a 90mm loss of depth front to back with the folded edges so i need to be sure of what depth I need then go from there.

website lists the depth as 540mm with lid open.

I guess you can drop one side in first etc ..so just looking for real world feedback rather than trying to work out spec sheets of tool boxes .

If you can help it is appreciated in advance  ;D ;D

http://www.tongbox.com.au/high-side-angle-box-470/

this is the box i am looking at and it is 530mm deep front to back.. with the angled lid it looks like I might be able to drop it in back first and make use of the full 530mm internal .

The more I think about this the more i think i may need to get my b,day present early and physically take it with me when i go toolbox shopping

Ive got mine on a slide so I dont have to remove it to set it up.
Dont know if this would work for your set up.

Is it going to be the new series baby Q?
the dimensions might be slightly different.

Is there an option to use the deluxe front box from lifestyle on the 2+ in lieu of the existing boot? You could reverse the fridge slide and have the weber slide out the off side of the camper.
You might have guessed we are getting close to finalising options and ordering. The wife has had a look and is ok with it. It was a struggle keeping her out of the big ones though - they are flash but not as kid friendly.
If you want to do up a package on those roof mounted lights from the other thread I'd be interested too ;)
Ps. My q 100 is 400mm tight front to back. Same one as in the photo above.

jetcrew, I just got a black one for my birthday  :cup: so if you would like me to measure anything just let me know.

Personally I'd get it early (just to make sure)

I went to TONG today to look at the "high side angle box 470" It comes in multiple lengths I am looking at the 1430mm long the oics below are of the 1130mm long.

As luck would have it or because they know what people want to carry they had a Baby Q and Generators in the showroom to test in boxes :cup: :cup: :cup:

The box in all 4 sizes fits the baby Q  ;D

1130mm Long fits baby Q and a EU10i

1430mm Long fits the Baby Q and a EU10I OR EU20i ;D ;D

I will be picking up the 1430 tomorrow, the design of this box is impressive ..its very strong and the angled opening makes it easy to get things in/out giving a wider mouth ..it is also a flush opening box.. when you open the lid it does not hinge past the rear of the box so it can be mounted hard up against a wall or head board and not foul when you want to fully open the lid.

Its $620 which is expensive, but after seeing one in the flesh and the features it has I am happy to fork out the extra $180 over the standard square type toolbox.

thanks mate...

just like the fridge i bought I am buying what works/fits best rather than trying to make something work for the sake of a few hundred dollars. I was limited to 530 mm front to back and then needed a box that would still fit what i wanted in it and then the whole rear hinge thing popped up and I thought I was a goner then I found this box so very happy right now.
