Modcon FF1 good and bad?
« on: February 03, 2017, 07:38:03 AM »
Hey all,

The wife and I are about to buy our first camper trailer and have narrowed it down to the modcon FF1 forward fold.  This design and use of space is exactly what we are after.  Last thing to do is check with other owners that have them and what they think.  I don't want any sugarcoated truths just honestly either way with quality, canvas, leaks?, failures, after sales service on warranty issues?

Thanks in advance for your help.

J

Can't speak for ownership myself however had I been able to scrape together the $$ would have gone that way for sure.

Really impressed with them and I looked at probably every camper trailer mob in Brisbane. 👍

Dicko.

yes I agree ive looked at a few and the trailer welding on most the chinese trailers is terrible, modcons looks far better.  For me the construction and integrity must be high to handle our outback roads and tracks.  Are there any other chinese ones out there that would compete in this category because the first thing I look for is underbody construction if that's no good I don't bother looking any further.

Hey Jabs

We own a Modcon HFD awesome camper we have had no issues with it at all. As for after sales support the guys at Modcon are great to deal with. Kerry is only too willing to hel out as much as possible.

We have done a number of mods to ours but it is still a strong camper could be taken anywhere. Message me if you want to ask any questions.

We where actually seriously thinking of selling ours a couple months back but now might keep it a couple years before going to a van.

Cheers

Colin

Gday jabs
Dont confuse the chinese made campers with the aussie made. They seem to be two completely different beasts.

Hi Jabs

We have had one for about 18 months now while we haven't used it as much as we like it is great, like many forward folds a bit heavy on the ball not a big issue for us
After sales service from Kerry has been 1st class couple of minor issues you could have with any trailer all happily and quickly attended to.
I have a few pictures of mine with a few mods I think it is thread
Cyclone71s modcon FF1 or similar
Feel free to message me if you would like any more info
Cheers

We've had one of these for 6 months or so. Really love it. So much storage!!!!

I've made the following mods :

1. Change the resettable 80A breaker with a fuse - Kids kept kicking the breaker reset switch. Not the best location.
2. Upgraded the water pump to a Joolca 6 lpm to match the Joolca hot water system (External). the old 3.8 lpm was cutting out.
3. We have wheels to match the LC200 we drive, so got 30mm hub spacers fitted.
4. For 2 x 120Ah batteries fitted from factory (Sydney)
5. For RedArc Manager 30 for charging - AWESOME!!!!
6. Painted the accessories internal switch light black. Very bright and the kids complained they couldn't sleep.
7. We got the extra "seat" to make the base a Queen size bed for the kids. that works really well.
8. DO35 hitch - these are a great upgrade.

the only thing I have left to do is a kitchen wall for the touring awning. The main awning is MASSIVE and too big for us as we move quite a bit. The touring awning is great, but it needs a kitchen was in case it rains. Very minor, but it would make a difference.

Get one.....you won't regret it.

Trent.
