Astute online camper valuations
« on: November 05, 2015, 09:00:03 AM »
Hi guys. Has anyone had any dealings with Astute online valuations ???
CIL recommended I use them to value my home made camper to apply
For insurance from them.
Or does anyone know of someone on the northside of Brisbane
who would be able  to help ?

Any feedback would be much appreciated.

You've stumped us all but I know the BIL had to get his Haines Hunter Signature fishing boat valued for insurance the last time round as it had exceeded a certain threshold age limit. Presumably that's their policy with older recreational stuff as there's too much variability in condition. Often owners want to insure for agreed value and nauturally that's a risk for insurers should some want to play funny buggers with them and have an 'accidental loss'.

Looking at that Astute website $105 cost isn't out of the ballpark and presumably they'll want lots of closeup pics along with your description of all fixtures and accessories and if the insurer directed you there they'll be happy with insuring for that. Insurers often have a margin of around 10- 15% they'll wear for insured value over market value and if you go over it they won't cover (apart from very particular specialists like Shannons)
There's no Great Evil conspiracy against consumers within engineering, manufacturing and supply. Just the many tradeoffs incurred to satisfy diverse tastes, priorities and wallets. But first comes all the insatiable Gummint eggsperts, nanny-staters and usual suspects.

Seems a good price. I got quoted $140 from the local bloke here in Townsville to value my homemade camper.
