Ezytrail Campers

Has anyone had anything to do with these campers, Just looking for some feed back.
I have been looking at the Eden LX on there web site, I realise they are cheap but some of the cheaper trailers aren't built to bad.

G'day Dave we got a Ezytrail Tarwin last year had it out 5 times once in heavy rain no issues with it I think it worth the money $6000 with extra annex.

I did read that it has conflicting reviews and the ones that had problems it looks like Ezytrail has fixed them. So I'm still thinking about it.

Done and dusted.

My mate went to the show room. The sales rep quietly mentioned he would not take this camper on the Gibb or the Tanami. They also look a lot weaker build compared to a 15 year old Cub or Campomatic.

I've seen a lot of these Chinese campers, both at shows and while touring, spoken to owners and have come to the conclusion that they are really only suited to on road touring, we went for a drive to Lilydale last Xmas, while camped in Buckland Valley, we looked at there hard floor camper, I'd give it 1/2 an hour offroad before it started to fall apart, important things like shock mounts and spring mounts, drawbar(which is bolted to the camper frame :o) are just not strong enough, the leaf springs are not heavy duty.

We only had a quick look at the soft floor camper, which didn't look as bad, the tents that go on the soft floor camper look good I must say, but if you look closely, you see the the tray is bolted to the frame.

Anyway, this is just a look at one chinese camper, there might be some good ones out there, but as yet, I've never seen one, I have heard of the good ones, but from the people I've spoken too about them, the price they paid is around what you would pay for the Aussie made ones.

I bought an Ezytrail Eden LX in about September last year and have done only about 4,000 km in it, a lot of it off road on low range rocky tracks that actually broke a CV on my 200 Series. It's Chinese made but assembled here. There have been a few minor problems, but nothing major.

The leaking stainless steel water tank was replaced under warranty. I wasn't happy with the sink tap so I replaced it with something else. The paint finish on the main camper body is excellent but very poor on the boxes and racks which have already started to rust and will need repainting. 

Some of the aluminium rivets on the clamps have started to pull a bit so I replaced them all with steel rivets. The stone guard welds cracked, probably from bumping against my spare wheel carriers during reversing, and I had them fixed locally without bothering with warranty. The crappy standard swing-up jockey wheel bent when fully extended so I replaced it with a heavier removable one.

I like the suspension and particularly the fact that I can order a spare stub axle and replace it on the side of the road. It tracks very well at all speeds and on all surfaces. Two spare wheels is a good thing. The tent is quite okay, perhaps a bit lighter than most, but keeps torrential rain out. The annex roof is such a pain to zip on that I just leave it permanently fixed. Annex walls are quick to put up. The two slideouts are good, but not terribly dustproof. Kitchen is great, but the stove burner bits need to be lifted off, wrapped in a cloth and stored in the sink to stop them moving about and scratching the cooker.

Water that falls into the kitchen, due to rain or spillage, ends up in the battery box, so a drain hole there is a good idea. Rear boot is handy. Be prepared to add extra protection for stone chips.

If you buy one, be prepared for a couple of hundred bucks worth of mods and make sure you have a can of fish oil. Overall I'd give it a 7 out of ten for quality and a 9.8 for value and would probably buy another one. Am taking mine over the Simpson during a month's break starting next week. I do hope it makes it back.

Thanks for the great reply Keith,  That's the type of info I was looking for. That is the model I was looking at but wont be doing any thing too extreme.

Just opening my Ezytrail Eden up to get everything squared away for out trip and guess what?
It was parked outside facing downhill for three months and water has got into the tail gate and all of the poles are rusted. They look zinc coated but are crappy thin paint.  Add three hundred bucks for a decent set from Poles Apart.
Can I revise quality down to a five and value down to a nine?

I looked closely at my Ezytrail full galv, no bolts holding any critical parts to the drawbar, or the frame. Its welded.

Hi Keith,

Just wondering with the gas cooker on your Eden LX did you have any issues with connecting the gas line and closing the draw underneath it.  We have just received our CT and are doing our heads in trying to hook it up and close the draw.

You have to disconnect the gas and the water lines to slide the drawer with the kitchen in it back into place.

The gas and water connections are hard to use because they get so much muck in them. I put rubber caps over mine which helps a bit.

Just got back from a 7,000 km trip from Sydney, returning through the Simpson Desert. Here are some other mods you might like to consider.

1. Buy some anti-vibration washers for all suspension and hub bolts and install with Loctite. That's ten bolts on each side. Mine all came loose and one disappeared altogether. This is a big safety issue.

2. Protect ALL of the plumbing from the water tanks. Rocks along the Oddnadatta Track demolished mine. You might want to put a bash plate on the leading edge of the water tank as well. Mine looks like it's been through WWII. Mine also has a plug on the top side of the tank that came loose and lost all of our water going over the Simpson. It serves no purpose and is a bodgie size, so I am welding mine up.

3. Don't expect the fly screen stone protector at the front to last too long. Mine is cactus and didn't stop too many stones anyway. Fortunately I taped soft rubber to vulnerable areas before we left and the rubber is now very battered about. Will add some big rubber flaps to the front.

4. Seal all of the cables and hoses that pass through the camper floor with silicone both sides. The grommets are not a great fit and let in huge amounts of dust.

5. Put cable ties on the jerry can holder clamps if you want to keep your jerry cans.

6. As the thing is largely bolted together I think it's a good idea to spanner the whole thing from time to time.

Yeah, will have to when the time comes to check them out.
Coffs Canvas, that's the son of the bloke(Darell  ???) that has Byrans Canvas at South Grafton, I think ???
The more I look at the K-Series Albany GT, the more I think we will have to make the short trip down to Coffs to have a look.
The Extra ensuite and rear awning that can be made into another enclosed area would be a plus for us and the kids.
