Current Model Automatic Isuzu D-Max.
« on: July 19, 2015, 04:31:53 PM »
Hello fellow Swaggers.

We are in the process of buying a new car for the Bride and we've decided upon the Dmax. It will be replacing an 03 Mitsi Pajero V6 auto. The Paj has been a great car, we have had it since 06, and it will be sad to see her go. We no longer need 7 seats(wifey was doing daycare from home) but still need a reasonable sized load area, kids do bmx, 2 bikes and a gazebo. Naturally a nice canopy will be purchased. A mate has a new Dmax and I can't help liking it more and more.
So, we have decided on a LS-M Dual Cab and can't decide between auto or manual. Can any auto owners give some feedback on their automatic  Dmax?
Cheers, Mike

If its the same as the mu-x then its the aisin box, the same as the petrol 200 series landcruiser. Works great with wide torque band of the 3L diesel.

Love mine, glad I went auto, but Im getting lazy.
Depends what you are doing with it. I prefer autos in sand, here in the west the sand gets pretty hungry. I tow with it in sequential mode to keep it at the revs I want.
If the Mrs is driving it I'm sure she will thank you for the auto if she is driving around town.

The auto is the way to go, you get the best of both worlds (manual shift on the side) and works well with the engine...

I'm pretty sure I'll got with the auto. Going to another dealer this Saturday because our local dealer is being a dickhead. Will take another auto for a run then.
Cheers, Mike.

I had a drive of a friends auto on Fraser the other week & it was quite good. It was 2 weeks old & bog standard & cruised over Nkgala rocks & elsewhere.
I did mention to her about turning off the traction control though, as it can get somewhat confused in loose, soft sand.
I'd be going the auto if in the market.
