Hi my swag.

I've been reading through the forums for a while now but this is my first post.

I've bitten the bullet and decided to buy my first ct.

I've found a few seconhand trailers that I like. 1 in particular is an ezytrail hard floor. 4 years old. The extras it has are twin batteries, solar panel, a few 12v sockets throughout, gas stove and a fridge slide in box. The guy has it advertised for $7500 and said he would take $6500. Also I noticed that similar trailers that look exactly the same are priced around $8000 seconhand with a few extras.

But then I stumbled across a camptime landmate A which looks identical to the ezytrail. I can get this brand new on the road for $7200. It's got independant coil suspension. It has no batteries/solar and no gas cooker.this doesn't bother me as I can get batteries/solar for cost price off a mate. And already have a gas cooker.

So what would you do in this situation?
Thanks for your thoughts.

Mitch.

Offer $5.5K cash & save the money cos you will eventually want power & gas imo.

Thanks moggy. Have offered $5500 but he said he will take no lower than 6k. It has a few more extras like a big box on the front with fridge slide to suit an 80l engel. Solar panel regulator, 600w inverter, 6 cd outlets throughout camper.

I think I'm goin to go with it. Only thing is it has leaf springs with shocks instead of coil independant. I'm sure leaf suspension will be good enough for the offroad work I do anyway.

Mitch,
for a camper...I have leaf spring with shockie....went up to the Cape last year(including Old Coach Rd) , and across the Savannah way year before. Absolutely no probs with good quality leaf springs on a soft floor camper. Went over the same terrain as the KK's etc on the same trip with us.

If I have my time again, I would get a 2nd hand camper for your first one. With the extras already in it. Then you can learn, and not lose much money.

And once you've been travelling a whle, and know what you want, look for your next upgrade..or just keep adding to the one you got.

For every situation you have 3 choices. Live with it, change it, or leave it. But only pick one

In another 4 years from now, the $6k trailer will probably be worth around the $6k still.

The new, then 4 year old trailer, will be worth less than 6k IMO.

Yep. For the $$ you are looking to spend, coil independant, if available, would not be up to much.
Stick with leaf springs. They'll do all you would want to do.

Thanks for the replys boys. Some good tips there.

Mark.... Thanks for your respons about the springs. It's good to know the leaves are up to the task.

Well looks like I'm doing a road trip from yeppoon to sunny coast tomorrow to pick it up. Will be a good highway run for the new ranger too. Can't wait.

Thanks, Mitch.

Well just picked up the new/used hard floor ezy trail. Overall in really good condition. Very happy with it for the $$ and all the extra bits it has.
