Travelling Stock Routes
« on: June 27, 2015, 01:14:48 PM »
I have just got back from a trip to Lighting Ridge where we stayed at the Opal CP,which I would recommend.
We were at the camp kitchen watching the State of Origin football game and the discussion of camping spots was raised.
There was some talk of the TSR, travelling stock routes which are mainly on the East coast .
Do you guys have any knowledge of these routes/camping spots? I have done a search buy cannot find out where they are,or a map .
They sound like good places to camp ,grassed and by water /rivers.
Any help would be great.
Jeff

Most of the data is in individual council shire datasets. Here is a large map of qld stock routes

https://www.dnrm.qld.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0003/99624/stock-routes-map.pdf

And around Longreach shire as an example.

http://www.longreach.qld.gov.au/documents/40185809/40216712/Longreach%20Stock%20Routes%20map.pdf

Someone else may have a better idea but most councils will have the local maps available.

Cheers

Shane

Thanks Shane.
The idea of following and camping on the routes was appealing .
I just found them hard to find.
Thanks
