Having just read this thread, I was wondering myself why you would get rid of what you had. I agree with bird. I think you have made the right call. Long run it would of cost you more, at least like you say, you know what you have got rather than buying someone else's old problems.
Good decision I think.

Hi
Did you manage to get the charging issue sorted with the camper and 4WD? Didn't hear back what the problem was.

No not yet mate. Went on the back burner at the moment with sorting out work stuff. Once I have work sorted and effectively swap roles with the wife, I will get back onto it. Badly in need of a camping fix, its been too long

without reading every post here's my 2 cents.
reckon for a cheap tourer an old td42 gq patrol not bad bang for buck.
still few minimal modified ones getting around without turbos for easy 5k mark.
chuck some xr6 or like seats in for more comfort.
2 inch lift. standard old man emu ones still flex pretty good and some 33" tyres and you hit a pretty good all rounder pretty cheap.
if your up for it buy a small welder build your own sliders and rear bar.
bull bar if you dont find one with steel bar find cheapy 2nd hand one.
same goes for tyres.
i would skimp on suspension.
sure being old truck will have few issues but the gqs are nice and easy to work on and great to learn incase anythhing happebs on tracks.
plus diesel shpuld run bit cheaper than petrols specially if your towing a camper.
