They didn't throw in some metamucil. That helps make you regular.

interesting today while havin time to waste.... went to annaconda, they still sell the tins for the single burner not to be sold stoves.

Asked him to show me their dual fuel stoves - "we havent sold them in 7 years"

I went next door to Rays, asked to show me their dual fuel stoves, and they dont sell them either - despite the link earlier in the thread.... but also had the tins of fuel for the not to be sold stoves...

so... found that very strange...

Tins can be used in more than just the stoves ( fire starter, heaters etc) that's why you still see them on sale

We will still be using ours ... cautiously of course.  They are quite good when used according to the directions of not covering the cylinder....

yea I had the 240 one and it was rubbish, was looking at the single burner, but at that price it isn't a bargain that's for certain..

Hi all, thought I better respond as I started this discussion
I bought a companion single wok burner like this one
http://www.tentworld.com.au/products/cooking/item/companion-1-burner-wok-cooker-stove.aspx
On special at one of the big chains for $60
I always have a second gas cylinder on the camper anyway, doesn't require much more space than the butane one, and the burner has a built in igniter, so it has proven to be a good choice.
Belts out the heat as well
Pedro

I used mine on the weekend and lived to tell the tale, mine is about 10 yo and i cant see how the flame could possibly reach the canister .

Leaking gas, due to a faulty safety valve, could easily reach the flame though  :D

I think the problem was the valve not shutting when there was an overtemp issue, so as long as the seal is good when the cannister is inserted, there shouldn't be a problem..

Even using a small saucepan on one, it doesn't take much effort to feel the cannister while cooking to see if the cannister is cool/ warm/hot ??

Commonsense use to be fairly normal years ago....where did it get to ???

Please have a look at: http://www.myswag.org/index.php?topic=42153.0, message 179 on page 8.

I passed on there what a bloke in the camping store told me the other week concerning the "problem".

It would appear that you "should" be able to test your own stove & make your own decision as to whether it's safe to use.

A combination of that & not putting too big a pan on top, should probably be fine
