Cub Spacevan - anyone got one ?

Quite impressed with the Cub Spacevan that I viewed at a recent show and am looking into purchasing one (either new or 2nd hand).

Anyone got one and can offer some inside information in regards to pro's & con's ?

Don't have one, but they are under serious consideration.  My last CT was a Cub Supamatic, purchased new in 2009 to do the Kimberley in 2011.  Has a fantastic time and the Cub did it easily.  However, we found we couldn't leave the awning on if we put our daughter's mattress on top of ours and storage was somewhat limited.  The Spacevan would overcome these problems with the extra height.  Be careful if you want the inside kitchen.  I've noted problems with canvas ripping when it catches in the sharp corners of the stainless benches while opening and closing the roof.  The current vertical door zips are much better than the pre 2010 door zips which had a circular action (zips prefer straight lines).  Cheers.

We have the Off Road version - 2009 I think.

Tough as. It sits behind you without any problem, off or on road. Just need to keep an eye on the top section when off road due to its height. Max weight is 1400 Kg. of which 1100Kg is unladen.

We had a number of issues, but Cub had no problem fixing them under warranty. Quite impressed.

Heaps of room inside. We went for single beds for space, and the inside kitchen as it came with the outside BBQ as well.

The door zip on our model can be a pain, but handled properly, all was fine.

No problems with canvas tearing on the metal sections inside. Just keep your eye on it when opening and closing. Take your time and no issues.

One thing I did notice is the metal stone guard for the water tank. Solid! Unlike some other makers who use thin sheet metal you can bend with your fingers.

I think it was the agent. Agent has changed so will see how the new one goes. Currently ha ing trouble with door zip and annex zip

Lol  I forgot about this old thread.  We purchased a 2013 offroad Spacevan Escape a few months ago.  It has the independent suspension and basic external kitchen.  After adding a queen size inner spring mattress, we're pretty happy with it.  We can leave the awning on and still have plenty of room for daughter's bedding.  I find the canvas fits best if I don't let the floor open all the way by setting the outer legs a little higher than the inner ones.  This allows the door zips to move much easier because the canvas isn't too taut.  One ongoing problem in heavy rain is that water flows through the awning zip and down the side of the camper into the kitchen hatch (if open).  I think this could be fixed if the flap that covers the zip was actually vecro'ed on to the awning.  Anyone know what it might cost?  Cheers.
