Whitevision - LCL1200 LED Camping Light
« on: March 13, 2015, 06:00:56 AM »
Hello All

I have purchased the Whitevision LCL1200 LED Camping Light on the recommendation of a reputable Camper Trailer Manufacturer in Perth. Here is a link to the supplier of the lamp (Whitevision- in Victoria) http://whitevision.com.au/products/next-generation-led/lcl1200-camping-light-led-2/ .

I plan on conducting a review on this product in the next few months (over two camper trips ) and posting the results via www.myswag.org. The reason being I found there was very little information about these lamps on the internet as to performance, reviews etc. These lamps seem very versatile and practicable with claims of : 1400 lumen high power light output, 6000K super bright colour temperature, Weatherproof and easy to store and flexible in mounting.

Just wondering if any members are using or have experienced the LCL1200 LED lamp?  I would like to here your thoughts and experiences in performance, warranty (if applicable), issues etc. PM me if you do not wish to post to this forum.

Regards to all.

They wouldn't be much different to any other 5050 LED strip to be honest in regard performance and there is plenty of information available on 5050 LED strip performance. It looks like Whitevision have been doing the rounds of forums and picked up some of the better ideas that have already been used previously by DIYers.

Any idea on price?

^^ my thoguhts too. An off the shelf DIY solution. If the price is right, it will shut down some of the DIY industry, but at the end of the day when you can get 5m of the same strip lighting for $15, throw in some cheap wire (I reckon leftover car speaker wiring is great for this purpose) and a switch, a bit of backing rod, or Velcro etc making your own is pretty cheap.

I just bought 3 of these for $60 each delivered from Ebay.

I have stuffed around with trying to make my own lights etc, however in the end, it was so much easier just buying what I needed.

The LEDs are very bright, much brighter than my 5050 LED strip that I bought for $15 from ebay.

I will snip the cig plug off, and shorten the cable to what I need, and fit a merit plug to it.

The switch is fairly close to the light, so if it is mounted high, short people will find it difficult to reach.

The dimmer is really good.

I wish I had bought these before I rooted around for months trying to make my own strip lights.

I have one of these, or very similar to it, got as a show special for $50.00.  Used on 1/2 dozen trips now and the light output is great.  Only problem we've had is, if left plugged in but off at the electronic switch, sometimes it will come on spontaneously.  Not usually a problem, but has happened early hours of the morning.  Once were out for the day, came back and the light was on.  So my suggestion would be to unplug at the Meret/Ciggie connection after use.

On ebay for $73.      1.2 meters of 5050 LED's. I am in the wrong business.

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1-2M-FLEXIBLE-LED-CAMPING-LIGHT-5050-SMD-CARAVAN-BOAT-WATERPROOF-BAR-STRIP-12V-/331266743973?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_15&hash=item4d21095ea5

You're not wrong. 128 sold, production cost is probably $10 or less, nice little profit.
