Giants in the City
« on: February 14, 2015, 10:02:18 AM »
I had to share some pics of these amazing Giants that are in Perth this weekend for the Arts Festival.
It's a pretty big deal apparently and cost a bzillion dollars,  and people will whinge about that... BUT..  I don't care,  it was awesome,  AND MY SON GOT TO RIDE ON HER ARM!
Argh I was so excited !!!

The puppets are controlled by French Lilliputians, attached with wires and they swing off the wires to make her walk. Remote controls move her head and control her blinking.
It was amazing see her close up, and that something made of wood could look so lifelike and have a personality..

When she walked past us the first time,  she actually squatted and did a wee on the road..!?
The second time around she rode up on a scooter,  then knelt down to give the kids a ride on her arms.

There is also a Giant Diver, whom the Giant Girl is looking for, (there is a massive story to it all..)
But he was unconscious at the train station and will wake up today..

There was a gazillion people in the city, and the atmosphere was amazing. There was a truck following her with a band on it, pumping out music.

Argh anyway, I'm going to attempt to add pics and videos x

That's on her scooter,  bit of a far away pic but I was using my phone camera..

Her scooter..

Having a rest..

The unconscious Diver..

Which bought in a million spectators spending $$ while in the city... I'm sure they came close to recouping the funds..
They've taken so many events off Perth, people whinge that is Dullesville,  then we manage to get an event the other city's can't,  and people whinge.  Meh.

Bit cheaper than a Grand Prix and brought a lot of pleasure to a lot of people! Today and tomorrow will be huge (bad pun) in the City as they repeat the show.
