I know this story well and know how it will end.
We also had a Jayco Finch for 15 years before the wife keep suggesting the expanda idea after the kids had out grown camping with the oldies. I kept dismissing the idea ,then started looking around and suggested [read buckled] that if we were to get one then it won't be a big model. I looked around and found a 2010 12.37 outback model with single rear bed only 6 months ago. The transition has been good ,easy to set up pack up, bit heavier to tow with increased fuel use, but comfy for our needs. Generally more organised with being able to access the inside without the need to crank the roof like with camper
I would happily tow it into the Turon [ie Capertee end] and have towed it into a few off the bitumen camps so far that I would otherwise have towed the Finch.
The reassurance that I can offer is that the wife will be happy and will be keen to get away more often.
