Hey guys, been pretty quiet lately due to bringing our "holiday" forward due to the father in law having another stroke.
So after we found out I put the misses and kids on a plane to Perth to hopefully make it in time to see her dad, as I had to work is wasn't feasible for me to leave that quickly.
(Still had two campers to deliver lol)
unfortunately half an hour before they landed in Perth he passed away. Such is life I guess.
About a week later I packed up the car and trailer and headed west. It really was a fairly straightforward trip and I did it in just over two days.
Now after I got there we had the funeral, and in the week between that and Christmas the car was broken into.
They took Tools, the fridge, camping stuff and a nappy bag that had all our daughters medical info in it. Unfortunately we didn't get any of it back, and now begins the task of trying to rebuild the book with all the info.
Anyway we did have a win, quite a few people ended up offering help. A big thank you to the guys as BCF Joondalup, 4x4 Perth (group) and Reece at ARB for their generosity and offers.
It was about that time we headed home, we left last Saturday and arrived home late last night. So a bit longer than my solo trip over lol.
However we did get stuck due to the car seemingly getting hot. We popped into a local mechanic on the way and he checked everything. We couldn't find anything wrong, so we put it down to the fact that I was driving at 110 with a trailer, aircon on and in 45+ degree heat.
About 60kms out of Renmark however we had a pretty serious problem. The boost gauge was slowly dropping from the 18p that I had set it at, and by the time we ended up at the BIG 4 in renmark it was sitting on 50kmh at 3p boost lol.
We set up at the BIG4 and I checked everything I could see to find a boost leak, but at 1am I couldn't find a fault. So the next morning I ended up heading over to Nissan in Berri (they were the only ones who offered to have a look at it for me.)
After tinkering around we found that a small hose that runs to the boost sensor had split. So $30 later it was fixed and we were ready to go.
Big BIG thumbs up to these guys, they were awesome! Best service I have EVER had from a nissan dealer.
We stayed for a couple of nights at the park in Renmark, as it was too hot to drive. The kids had a ball playing in the pool and the water jungle gym.
After we were back on the road the car was perfect. 110, no getting hot and plenty of oomph.
So a couple of stats:
Total klms: 9368
total fuel: 1318
av fuel about 14lph.
Pretty happy with how the car went. The exhaust, chip, intercooler and upping the boost made it awesome compared to before any of that.
So now that Im back, time to get into these campers and get ready for the new year!
Cheers
